Client is seeking a highly motivated candidate for the VMWare & Storage Engineer position in our Infrastructure team within our Product Design and Development division. The VMWare & Storage Engineer position plays a key role with infrastructure and application developers for administration and management of our Data Center compute, storage and backup platforms and systems and with operations staff to ensure systems and process optimization and availability. To be successful in this role, a VMWare & Storage engineer must have a deep understanding of Data Center, infrastructure and operations processes, as well as a strong technical background.

This position reports directly to the Head of Automation and Resiliency
Key Responsibilities and Skills:

• Takes responsibility for managing the design, installation, monitoring, upgrades, operation control, maintenance and effective use of our compute and storage platforms hosting virtual machines running standard operating systems and appliances such as Windows and Linux Operating Systems and Infrastructure technology services
• Proficient with compute platforms on VMWare technology for design, management and administration
• Proficient with multi-tier storage and backup platforms such as QNAP, Dell Unity, Dell Avamar/Data Domain for design, management, administration and optimization
• Proficient in replication technologies such as VMWare SRM or Zerto to support the organizations business continuity objectives and requirements
• Access Management for all infrastructure systems
• Support Disaster Recovery planning, setup and exercises
• Familiar with project and task tracking and management using Agile tools such as Jira.
• Ability to provide detailed documentation
• Excellent collaboration, verbal and written communication skills are essential
• Self-motivated, responsible and reliable
• Work directly with software developers and project managers to test system performance and integrity
• Design and implement build, deployment, and configuration management
• Troubleshoot, test and optimize implemented designs and process workflows for provisioning, configuration management and operations including Disaster Recovery
• Tuning virtual machines, storage and network for optimal performance and stability to maintain and ensure business application SLA s
• Monitor metrics and develop continuous process improvements
• Support security baselines and ensure compliance for platforms
• Collaborate with vendors to maintain and comply with support versions of all related software
• Familiarity with ITIL practices for Change, Incident and Problem management for support of platforms

Qualifications:

• 10+ years experience as a VMWare and Storage administrator and engineer
• Bachelor s degree from an accredited university or college in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline

NOTE: Exceptional candidates who do not meet all the above criteria may still be considered for the position

Additional Requirements:

• May be required to work off hours, including nights and weekends.
• Read, write and comprehend the English language to communicate clearly to vendors, clients, and employees respectively.
