Title: Electrical Engineer 2Location: Vancouver, WA (Hybrid)Duration: 12-month Contract (with possible extensions up to 5 years)Pay Range: $51.61 - $54.84 per hourThis function provides professional engineering expertise in assisting project manager and other engineering personnel in implementing projects, supporting field maintenance crews and other related engineering activities.
Position Responsibilities:
- Confer with engineers, internal customers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects
- Plan/implement research methodology and procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects.
- Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment.
- Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems.
- Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
- Create electrical drawings, reports and calculations to support the engineering solutions for electrical systems.
- Facilitate and coordinate construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, or testing activities to verify compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
- Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish construction, and installation standards and specifications.
- Inspect completed installations and observe operations to verify conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards.
- Facilitates significant work components within large projects.
- May act as local project manager over projects, coordinating multi-skilled, multi-discipline work groups.
- Writes/reviews written work plans/functional tests.
- Performs troubleshooting and provides technical support to craft/customer personnel.
- Attends project scoping meetings or design reviews, recommends changes to specification diagrams based on technical and operational issues.
- May provide field man-hour estimates and develop outage/transition plans to facilitate project implementation. Works with design staff during engineering phase to understand design philosophy and provide field information/valid requirements.
- Applies diversified knowledge of engineering principles/practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.
Position Requirements:Education & Corresponding Experience - A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or other closely related engineering field is required.
- 5 years of practical electrical engineering experience is required.
Required Technical Skills & Experience - Professional knowledge of electrical engineering principles applied to transmission systems.
- Experience working in a regulated environment, including, but not limited to, exposure to NERC reliability standards.
Preferred Skills & Experience - Demonstrated ability to analyze and validate complex data sets, including the use of Python (preferred) or similar scripting languages for automation and quality testing.
- Experience performing quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews of engineering or asset data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established standards.
- Knowledge of applicable reliability, safety, and data integrity standards governing transmission system design, operation, and asset management
- Familiarity with GIS-based asset management or mapping systems, particularly those supporting transmission system modeling .
