Job Description: SAP Technical Lead / Architect
Location: Remote
Employment Type: Contract to Hire.
 
Role Overview :
We are seeking a highly experienced SAP Technical Lead / Architect with strong hands-on expertise in SAP ECC development and enterprise integrations. This role will lead SAP-side implementation for a large-scale integration initiative where SAP ECC acts as the system of record, integrating order management and supply chain data into Salesforce Manufacturing Cloud via MuleSoft.
The ideal candidate will own all SAP technical deliverables, lead integration design and execution, and collaborate closely with business, functional, and integration teams to ensure seamless end-to-end data flow. 
Key Responsibilities :
  • Lead SAP technical design and development for enterprise integration initiatives.
  • Design, develop, and enhance IDocs including ORDER05, DELFOR02, DELVRY07, and custom order types (ZE14, LZM, TAM).
  • Develop and enhance ABAP objects such as:
    • Function Modules
    • BAPIs
    • BADIs
    • RFC-enabled programs
    • Custom reports and forms
  • Configure and manage ALERFC destinations (SM59), partner profiles, and distribution models.
  • Map SAP ECC tables (VBAK, VBAP, LIKP, VBBE, etc.) to standard and custom IDoc segments.
  • Support and implement custom validations, enhancements, and data transformations.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot interfaces using SAP CPI / PI / PO and SAP tools (WE02, WE05, WE19).
  • Collaborate with business and functional teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Lead end-to-end SAP delivery: design, development, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support.
  • Mentor junior consultants and coordinate offshore/onshore technical teams.
  • Manage incident resolution, change requests, and performance optimization.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, integration specs, and knowledge transfer materials.
  • Ensure adherence to SAP best practices, quality standards, and project timelines.
Required Qualifications & Skills :
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or related field.
  • 8+ years of SAP ECC technical experience, including at least 2 full-cycle SAP implementations.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in:
    • ABAP
    • IDoc enhancements
    • BAPIs
    • RFCs
    • ALE
    • Data conversions (BDC, LSMW)
  • Experience with SAP CPI or SAP PI/PO for integration monitoring and support.
  • Solid functional understanding of SAP SD, MM, PP, and FI modules.
  • Strong leadership experience managing SAP technical teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with SAP tools: SE80, SE11, ST22, SM59, WE19, WE02, WE05.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Experience working in global delivery and cross-functional environments.
Nice to Have
  • Prior experience integrating SAP ECC with Salesforce Manufacturing Cloud.
  • Exposure to MuleSoft-based integrations.
  • Experience in large-scale enterprise integration programs.
