Wintel Engineer - Contract - Remote - $60.00 - $65.00/hr.
The final salary or hourly wage, as applicable, paid to each candidate/applicant for this position is ultimately dependent on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's/applicant's qualifications, skills, and level of experience as well as the geographical location of the position.

Our client is seeking a Wintel Engineer for remote opportunity.
Role Description
Key Responsibilities:
Design, deploy, and maintain VMware ESX environments, including provisioning, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
Implement and maintain security hardening of Windows and Linux systems based on CIS benchmarks.
Perform regular system audits, vulnerability assessments, and remediation activities.
Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure infrastructure meets regulatory and organizational standards.
Monitor system performance and availability, and proactively resolve issues.
Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and policies.
Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and other IT staff.
Skills & Requirements
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Wintel Engineer or similar role.
Strong hands-on experience with VMware ESX/ESXi and vSphere environments.
In-depth knowledge of Windows Server and Linux (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu) administration.
Experience with CIS hardening guidelines and tools such as CIS-CAT.
Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation and configuration management.
Understanding of networking concepts, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications such as VMware VCP, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, or Linux+ / RHCSA.
Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, or Chef).
Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) is a plus.
