Job Title: Mainframe Programmer

Location: Pittsburgh, PA (Hybrid 3x a week onsite)

Overview: Join our dynamic team as a Mainframe Programmer, supporting critical migration projects within the banking sector. This role offers an excellent opportunity to apply your mainframe expertise while contributing to significant system upgrades that enhance operational efficiency and system reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and support the migration to a new vendor system (CAA replacement), ensuring seamless transition and minimal disruption.
Develop, modify, and optimize batch and online COBOL programs, adhering to best practices for performance and maintainability.
Manage file transmissions using various protocols, including ETL and other transmission methods, ensuring secure and accurate data exchange.
Define, convert, and generate Systemware reports, including ad-hoc reporting, to support business and operational needs.
Collaborate closely with technical leads and cross-functional teams to implement, validate, and troubleshoot system conversions and data transmissions.
Assist in defining testing strategies, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring high-quality deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Proven experience in COBOL programming (both batch and online).
Strong knowledge of file transmission protocols and ETL processes.
Proficiency with JCL (Job Control Language) for batch scripting.
Experience with DB2 database environment.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and ask clarifying questions when needed.
Self-motivated, reliable, and proactive problem solver.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

ACH transaction processing experience.
Experience with EZTrieve, FileAID, and Systemware reporting tools.
Prior exposure to banking systems or financial institutions, demonstrating familiarity with industry-specific processes.
