Sr Systems Programmer (CICS) - Contract - Remote - $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
The final salary or hourly wage, as applicable, paid to each candidate/applicant for this position is ultimately dependent on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's/applicant's qualifications, skills, and level of experience as well as the geographical location of the position.

Our client is seeking a Sr Systems Programmer (CICS) in Raleigh, NC.
Role Description
Our Mainframe Engineering team is looking for an experienced, senior level Systems Programmer to support the CICS environment. This role will entail the installation, support, maintenance, trouble shooting and resolution to complex issues. This engineer will be responsible for maintaining the environment and responding to issues in a timely manner by receiving and investigating incident or service tickets at times providing after-hours on-call support. This role will engage with other support staff, outside vendors and will act as a resource for teammates with less experience.
Provide overall support for all CICS environments including, but not limited to, installation, modification, analysis, debugging, initiating support tickets, updating configurations, testing, and trouble shooting.
Lead the installation of new CICS versions through a project life cycle.
Apply updates from IBM as required.
Support CICS Transaction Gateway.
Design, develop and implement solutions in the CICS environment.
Support front end developers.
Support, install and maintain Third Party Products related to CICS.
Perform problem tracking, diagnosis and root-cause analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution for complex issues. In this capacity, performs programming and debugging activities.
Responds to issues in a timely manner by receiving and investigating incidents or service tickets.
Occasional contact with end-users.
Mentor teammates with less experience.
Lead moderately complex projects and participate in larger, more complex projects.
Collaborate with teammates and support personnel from other departments for projects, support, incident resolution and upgrades.
Maintain all relevant documentation.

Skills & Requirements
CICS Systems programming exp. This is NOT an application developer. They will need to have specific systems experience in implementation, maintenance and support, along with exp doing table updates.
Strong problem diagnostics skills are a must.
Must be effective working independently and with others w/minimal supervision.
Experience with capacity and performance issues
These are seasoned mainframe storage candidates , nearly ready to retire, who must possess an in depth knowledge of mainframe storage (tapes, virtual tapes, DASD and GDPS)"
Demonstrated ability to install, configure, customize and support multiple CICS regions and environments.
Experience supporting CICS table updates working with application developers.
Experience supporting CICS Transaction Gateway.
Ability to install and customize IBM and third-party software using SMP/E, zOSMF, or vendor specific installation methods.
Solid knowledge of mainframe JCL and utilities.
Experience using TSO, ISPF, SDSF, and SMF.
Working knowledge of JES2, REXX, CLIST.
Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to provide afterhours support in an on-call rotation.
Desired Education, Experience, Knowledge, Abilities, Skills:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or relevant experience.
8+ years of experience in a related job.
Experience supporting any of Db2, RACF, z/OS, z/VM, Linux, and mainframe networking a strong plus.
Experience with zMonitoring or Omegamon also a strong plus.
Experience with other monitoring tools a plus as well.
Experience using GDPS, NetView, and System Automation is very desirable.
Experience in mainframe storage management considered beneficial.
Experience supporting Broadcom (Compuware) tools preferred.
