Sr. Structured Cabling Engineer - Contract - New York City, NYC - $60.00 - $65.00/hr.

The final salary or hourly wage, as applicable, paid to each candidate/applicant for this position is ultimately dependent on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's/applicant's qualifications, skills, and level of experience as well as the geographical location of the position.

Our client is seeking a Sr. Structured Cabling Engineer in New York City, NYC.

Role Description

Be an extension to GTI structured cabling team onsite at 237 Park Ave (or another site close to 237 Park Ave)
Dedicated to the team (flexible to attend ad hoc meetings if required including weekends/overtime)
Subject matter expert in the field
Attend site walks, meetings as required
Document and issue field observation reports
Ensure telecom infrastructure installation aligns with BICSE/TIA/local codes and GTI structured cabling standards

The manager would like to see a structured cabling engineer with project management experience as a plus. The first time around we were seeing more PM candidates that knew structured cabling.
(RCDD cert is a plus)
Enterprise Network Design: Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Structured Cabling. The design, documentation, construction and project management of layer 1-3 fiber/copper enterprise networks. Experience includes Designs for datacenter, Local Area Networks (LAN), Campus Area Networks (CAN) and Outside Plant Facilities (OSP). Work includes Entrance Facilities (EF), pathways and spaces. Network nodes included in designs are access control, teleconferencing, PA Systems, CCTV, WAPs, DAS, VoIP and data terminals.
Strategic Leadership: Provide subject matter expertise and strategic direction of comprehensive IT strategies that align with business objectives. Provide direction on cloud applications and IT infrastructure strategy to support
business administration and ensure operational excellence. Lead and develop the IT operations, cloud, networking and support services teams with the goal of providing mentorship, guidance and professional development opportunities.
Project Management, Team Management: Advanced technical fluency with the ability to effectively apply management, analysis and interpersonal skills, thus facilitate decision making to the benefit of technology strategy, planning and governance. Extensive skills and experience at managing client/customer relationships, time management, verbal/ written communication. Follow industry standards, codes and best practices. Use PMP, ITIL, ITSM methodologies to collaborate and partner with other IT leaders and business stakeholders to align infrastructure and operations initiatives with overall business strategy.
Vendor Management: Manage vendor relationships, support RFP/RFQ processes, and assist with contract negotiations and project closeout.
Disaster Recovery: Partner with stakeholders to identify assets and set recovery benchmarks. Create contingency plans identifying recovery team members, specific responsibilities and recovery objectives.
Construction: Expert level experience planning and coordinating site work, vendor negotiation to reduce interdisciplinary, scheduling conflicts. Well versed in data collection, contract management, cost estimates, Request for Proposal (RFP), bid leveling.
Asset Lifecycle Management: Implemented strategic initiatives using ITIL strategies and technical expertise to optimize software licensing costs and improve efficiency. Use tools like DCIM to track IT assets.
IT Budget Management: Ensure accurate documentation and approval of expenditures to guard for cost-effective use or all organizational resources as related to staffing, ICT assets and projects. Develop, manage, track and periodic review of ICT budget to ensure targets, goals are met.
Cyber security: Implemented comprehensive risk management policies to mitigate potential threats and ensure data security based on knowledge of computer science and data warehousing. Perform thorough audits of system processes and IT strategy to maintain regulatory compliance and mitigate potential risk. Use Knowledge of cyber security and HIPAA to ensure robust and secure IT operations. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards, including data privacy and security requirements based on COBIT principles.
Digital Transformation - IT Service Management: Leverage technical expertise - IT Leadership to provide high-quality consultation services focused on innovation. Perform general and specific GAP analyses, system audits to determine the most effective approach for digital transformation, cloud technologies. Perform research and development to assess best use case for enterprise applications such as: cloud services, automation and artificial intelligence.
