How do I set up my Dice profile?
Use your profile to connect with employers!
Your Dice profile is more than just a resume placeholder, it’s your first impression with employers and the key to being discovered for top tech jobs. A complete profile makes you up to 7x more likely to appear in recruiter searches and ensures better job matches. This guide walks you through creating and completing your profile, setting your visibility, and turning on smart alerts so you don’t miss opportunities.
Why a complete profile matters
- Recruiters filter candidates by skills, location, and experience—an incomplete profile can exclude you from searches.
- Profiles with detailed skills, certifications, and recent roles show up higher in employer search results.
- A polished, current profile builds credibility and increases the chances you’ll be contacted for relevant roles.
| TIP: Treat your Dice profile like your professional storefront. The more complete and accurate it is, the more opportunities you’ll attract. |
Before you begin
- Create your Dice account (free) and verify your email address.
- Have a recent resume (PDF/DOC) ready. You can upload a resume to auto-fill key profile fields, or build your profile manually.
| TIP: You can remove personal contact details from your uploaded resume. Recruiters can still reach you through Dice. |
Step 1: Open your profile
- Sign in at dice.com.
- Click Go to my profile on your home dashboard OR select your name in the top navigation.

- Choose Profile.
Step 2: Add the basics
Complete these sections so employers can quickly understand your background:
- Location & Work Preference: city/state, onsite/hybrid/remote, and willingness to relocate.
- Experience: job titles, employers, dates, and key accomplishments.
- Skills: add specific technologies, frameworks, tools, and domains.
- Education & certifications: list degrees, bootcamps, and relevant certifications
| TIP: Use exact technology names (e.g., “React,” “AWS Lambda,” “Kubernetes”) to improve search matches. |
Step 3: Upload (or refresh) your resume
- In the Resume section, select Upload new resume.
- Choose your file and confirm.
- Replace an old file anytime to keep your profile current.

TIP: Keep your resume filename clean (e.g., Firstname_Lastname_Resume.pdf). |
Step 4: Set your profile visibility
To appear in employer searches and be contacted for roles, set your profile to Visible.
- Go to the Profile Visibility toggle on your home dashboard OR your profile page.
- Turn Profile Visibility ON (or switch to Not visible any time).

You’re always in control. You can temporarily hide your profile and make it visible again when you’re ready.
Step 5: Turn on job alerts (optional but recommended)
Stay on top of new roles that fit your background:
- Create Job Alerts from your searches.
- Opt in to IntelliSearch Alerts to get recommendations based on your profile.
You can edit frequency and keywords any time from Alerts.

Step 6: Apply smarter with Dice Match (optional)
Use Dice Match to see how well you fit a role and get suggestions to strengthen your profile. It can also surface personalized job recommendations.

Privacy & safety
- You can control who sees your information by adjusting Visibility and Notifications & preferences.
- Report suspicious or misrepresented job postings from the job page.
