Summary

National Grid, a premier international electricity and gas utility, is seeking an experienced Customer/1 Billing Business Analyst to support mission-critical billing operations. This role focuses on optimizing the meter-to-cash lifecycle using Oracle Customer/1 (C1) within a regulated energy utility environment. The ideal candidate will drive billing accuracy, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate across IT, finance, and operations to enhance customer experience and revenue integrity.

This is a high-impact contract opportunity with IBM supporting National Grid s digital transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze, configure, and support Oracle Customer/1 billing modules across the full utility billing lifecycle.
Translate business requirements into functional specifications for billing system enhancements.
Ensure billing processes comply with FERC, state PUC regulations, and utility-specific rate structures (electricity & gas).
Partner with cross-functional teams (IT, finance, customer service, operations) to resolve billing discrepancies and process inefficiencies.
Support testing, UAT, and deployment of billing system changes in an Agile environment.
Collaborate with implementation teams (including IBM) on system integrations (e.g., SAP, Salesforce, ESRI/GIS).

Required Qualifications

Bachelor s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of hands-on experience as a Business Analyst in utility billing systems.
Proven expertise in Oracle Customer/1 (C1) specifically in billing, invoicing, and meter-to-cash workflows.
Strong understanding of energy utility operations, including:
- Regulatory compliance (FERC, state PUCs)
- Tariff and rate application
- Residential & commercial billing for gas/electric services

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience at energy utility companies or utility-focused consultancies, such as:
- Florida Power & Light (FPL)
- American Electric Power (AEP)
- Cognizant (CTS)
- Infosys
- Other major utilities or IBM utility practice alumni
Familiarity with integrated utility platforms (e.g., SAP, Salesforce, ESRI/GIS).
Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
Knowledge of Oracle Utilities Customer Care & Billing (CC&B) is a plus (though C1 is primary).
