Job Overview:
Pay Range: $13.00hr - $18.00hr
Requirement/Must Have:
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Customer-service oriented work experience required, preferably in a mail services environment.
- Experience with working in a student-friendly, diverse environment preferred.
- Courteous with strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to multi-task and work comfortably in a fast-paced environment.
- Dependable with proficient attention to detail.
- Strong communication and decision-making skills.
- Flexible with the ability to adapt to change quickly.
- Ability to exhibit maturity and professionalism.
- Team player, yet able to work independently with little to no direct supervision.
- Willingness to learn, take direction well, and exhibit sound judgement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, in addition to other software packages and computer skills as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the daily operations of the mail room including receiving, processing accurately and timely distribution of all incoming federal U.S. mail and packages.
- Accountable for all deliveries accepted that require a signature from the carrier.
- Navigate StarRez package System to effectively process all inbound parcels, identify recipients and accurately input all data fields.
- Provide effective customer service to students, staff and members of the community with mail service needs.
- Support the philosophy of excellent customer service, and diversity & inclusion.
- Communicate effectively with departmental representatives, students, parents, staff, postal employees as well as other external delivery service employees.
- Communicate consistently with and develop positive working relationships with all delivery personnel.
- Assist with assigning parcels to lockers and delivery of parcels to lockers.
- Research mail service problems/issues and provide information on mail services.
- Advise on procedures for special deliveries and pick-ups.
- Use PC to access web-based delivery services sites such as DHL, Federal Express, USPS and UPS to research delayed deliveries or missing packages.
- Design and create signs/flyers to communicate information regarding changes in service and hours of operation.
- Recognize and report any suspicious or potentially dangerous mail or packages and take necessary precautions and appropriate action.
- Document and maintain package return logs, accurately labeling and updating student mailboxes throughout the academic year.
- Follow up directly with students regarding unclaimed packages.
- Coordinate mail-forwarding process.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
