Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking an Associate Pilot Plant - Onsite for a position with a Global Biotechnology Company located in Cambridge, MA. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity. This is a hands-on, operational role within a drug substance pilot plant, not a research scientist position. The ideal candidate will be part of an integrated team of scientists and engineers working together to advance a rich and dynamic pipeline. This position provides a unique opportunity to work on multiple modalities, from antibodies to oncolytic viruses to bi-specifics, while utilizing problem-solving skills to rapidly solve day-to-day experimental challenges.
Responsibilities: - Perform large-scale upstream cell culture and downstream purification manufacturing operations up to the 200L-500L scale
- Operate, setup, and troubleshoot bioprocessing equipment such as rocking and single-use bioreactors, chromatography, and filtration systems
- Pack and qualify chromatography columns up to 40 cm in diameter
- Perform testing of samples on various analytical instruments
- Document work in electronic lab notebooks per GDP principles while following appropriate SOPs
- Write, review, and revise documentation (SOPs, Manufacturing Procedures, Forms, Technical Reports, etc)
- Monitor and analyze process performance for atypical trends and improvement opportunities
- Perform basic troubleshooting and collaborate with Management, Engineering, and Automation to resolve manufacturing events
- Generate, analyze, and summarize process data to support new technology development and new product introductions
- Adhere to all regulatory requirements, written procedures, policies, and safety guidelines at all times
- Ability to work some off-hours and weekends due to the nature of the work
Requirements: - Bachelor s degree in Chemical Engineering, Physics, or Bioengineering with approximately 1-5 years of relevant experience (academic, co-op, internship, or industry)
- Strong scientific and mathematical foundational core (knowledge of pH, pressure, flowrate, mass, volume, density, geometry; ability to perform basic calculations)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Digital proficiency with basic computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to regularly lift up to 35 lbs, push and pull objects that require up to 50 lbs of force, and work on your feet for long durations
- Ability to perform physical movements such as bending, reaching, climbing, kneeling, and standing on ladders up to 6 feet

Pay range: up to $34.37 per hour
