Job Title: Sr. DevOps AWS Cloud Engineer
Location: Chantilly, VA (Onsite)
Type: Direct Hire (W2)
Compensation: $180,000/year
Schedule: 40 hours/week
Security Clearance: Active Top Secret required; must be able to obtain CI Poly after hire
About the role
We’re hiring a senior AWS DevOps Engineer to support the development, integration, deployment, and sustainment of mission-critical systems. You’ll work in a Linux-based, multi-tenant environment and play a key role in building and operating secure, automated delivery pipelines for microservices.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys improving CI/CD, partnering closely with developers, and driving reliability + security in production-like environments.
What you’ll do
- Support deployment of microservices through a DevSecOps pipeline (Linux-based, multi-tenant)
- Develop, update, and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipeline code
- Configure, troubleshoot, and deploy Docker containers
- Review code in Git and create/extract engineering documentation as needed
- Support developer deployments and testing in the environment
- Provide technical guidance across capabilities/microservices
- Create and maintain DevOps documentation
- Perform security remediation based on scan findings
- Complete other related tasks as assigned
Must-have qualifications
- Strong experience with GitLab (functionality, scripting, troubleshooting/error codes)
- Hands-on experience with AWS services such as CloudFormation, S3, ECS, EKS
- Experience with serverless AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, load balancing, autoscaling)
- Solid understanding of cloud-based architectures
- Working knowledge of DevSecOps methodologies and workflow
- Proven experience developing and managing CI/CD pipelines
- Ability to support development testing and collaborate across engineering teams
- Strong communication skills; proactive/self-starter mindset
- Active Top Secret clearance and ability to obtain CI Poly post-hire
Preferred / nice-to-haves
- AWS certification (DevOps Engineer, Solutions Architect, etc.)
- Linux certifications
- Experience with ArcGIS or geospatial technologies
- Deep experience with AWS Lambda and ECS
- Strong Docker troubleshooting and container deployment background
- Familiarity with collaboration tools like Jira and Confluence
Education / experience guideline
- Typically BS + 8+ years (or MS + 6+ years) in IT/CS/related field, or equivalent experience
