Pay Rate: $30-$35/hour
Schedule: 2nd Shift, Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM (occasional overtime)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced HVAC Lab Technician to support the testing, evaluation, and validation of commercial HVAC equipment. This hands-on role is responsible for executing performance tests on large-scale air-cooled and water-cooled systems, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, maintaining laboratory infrastructure, and ensuring equipment meets quality and reliability standards before deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and execute HVAC equipment testing, including installation of instrumentation such as flow meters, pressure sensors, and temperature sensors.
- Monitor and analyze data acquisition systems during testing operations.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, controls, and instrumentation issues to minimize downtime and maintain testing schedules.
- Work safely with high-voltage electrical systems, including 460V equipment, and refrigerant-based machinery.
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment used for pressure, temperature, flow, and electrical measurements.
- Operate and monitor support infrastructure, including hydronic pumping systems, boilers, cooling towers, and related equipment.
- Diagnose and support PLCs, VFDs, sensors, valves, and control systems.
- Follow all environmental, health, safety, lockout/tagout, arc flash, and workplace safety requirements.
- Support continuous improvement and 5S initiatives within the laboratory environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 5+ years of experience servicing, maintaining, or troubleshooting commercial HVAC equipment.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, refrigeration principles, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Experience working in a testing, laboratory, industrial, or manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in HVAC Technology, Mechatronics, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.
- Skilled Trades Apprenticeship or equivalent technical training.
- 5+ years of experience with commercial chillers, HVAC operations, or laboratory testing environments.
- Knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.
- EPA Certification for refrigerant handling.
- Experience working with high-voltage electrical systems, medium-voltage operations, and arc flash safety procedures.
