Job DescriptionWe are seeking a
Senior Electrical Designer – Project Manager to join the team in
Chicago, IL. This role is responsible for establishing the conceptual approach to electrical systems across multiple projects and managing resources to ensure successful project delivery.
The position will oversee project goals, client expectations, schedules, budgets, resources, QA/QC, and coordination with internal teams, clients, contractors, and consultants. The Senior Designer – Project Manager will also lead the design team, support construction administration, and ensure effective project coordination and communication.
Responsibilities- Establish the conceptual approach to systems across multiple projects and ensure implementation through resource management.
- Manage project contract requirements, client expectations, schedules, financials, billing, collections, and project information flow.
- Coordinate with project engineers to ensure project deliverables are completed effectively.
- Convert client goals into appropriate system designs and solutions considering environmental factors, project budget, health, safety, and public welfare.
- Represent the firm in interactions with clients, contractors, and project team members.
- Coordinate and assign projects to the design team.
- Supervise and lead the design team under the direction of the Engineer of Record.
- Maintain interdisciplinary coordination with other trades and project consultants.
- Supervise preparation of reports and analysis of system options and building conditions.
- Supervise coordination meetings.
- Create and manage budgets, schedules, and resources.
- Manage QA/QC for projects.
- Monitor correspondence between staff, clients, contractors, and owners.
- Prepare proposals and administer project contracts.
- Handle construction administration duties, including field reports, RFIs, Bulletins, and Addenda.
- Develop staff skills related to project management.
Required Qualifications- High School Diploma with trade school certification in CAD Mechanical or Electrical fields, or AA degree in Mechanical, Plumbing, or Electrical field with relevant experience.
- 8+ years of experience in electrical fields.
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat/Reader.
- High proficiency in design and calculation software.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
