Position Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Data Platform Operations Engineer to join our cloud data support team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the operational readiness, performance, and availability of our cloud-based data platform. Your focus will be on providing first-line support for platform applications, participating in disaster recovery and operational exercises, and collaborating across teams to uphold the platform's stability and compliance with business standards. This position plays a vital role in supporting the smooth processing of billions of transactions weekly, maintaining the organization's position as a key player in the global financial ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-level support for platform applications, including incident triage, resolution, and escalation.
- Monitor platform health and performance using observability tools such as Splunk, Grafana, or similar platforms.
- Participate in disaster recovery and operational rotation exercises to verify platform readiness and validate business continuity plans.
- Develop, update, and execute operational runbooks for support scenarios and application recovery in a remote cloud environment.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement system updates and gather diagnostic information for advanced troubleshooting.
- Manage object lifecycle processes, including creation, modification, and retirement of data repositories, schemas, and roles.
- Oversee IAM services, including user and role management, supporting integration with enterprise IAM solutions and executing secrets management policies.
- Contribute to the development of training resources, job aids, and documentation for operational support staff.
- Utilize IT service management tools to handle incidents, problems, changes, and service requests.
- Work with account teams to identify, report, and resolve platform issues.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three years' experience in cloud data platform operations or support roles.
- Proficiency in SQL and basic scripting languages (e.g., Python or Bash) to automate operational tasks.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools like GitLab, Bitbucket, Jenkins, and infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
- Experience with Linux system administration and batch scheduling tools.
- Basic experience with cloud infrastructure management (AWS IaaS preferred; Azure or Google Cloud Platform acceptable).
- Understanding of IT service management processes and tools, including incident and change management.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience integrating cloud data platforms with analytics tools such as Power BI, Looker, or Quicksight.
- Exposure to container services and stream analytics related to data pipelines.
- Familiarity with AI services within cloud data platforms.
- Experience working with configuration management and asset management tools like CMDB systems.
