Randstad is seeking a Senior SDET – Integration & Platform for a client engagement in Washington, DC. In this role, you will design, implement, and maintain comprehensive test strategies for a complex, workflow-driven distributed microservices platform supporting enterprise workforce management. You will serve as a senior technical leader ensuring system reliability, scalability, and performance by building robust automation frameworks for UI, API, and message-based architectures (Kafka), while mentoring team members, establishing quality gates, and embedding automated suites directly into CI/CD pipelines. This position is remote, with mandatory travel provided for quarterly PI planning sessions, and potential on-site requirements in Washington, DC, Wilmington, or Philadelphia as project needs evolve.
Essential Responsibilities
- Automation Frameworks: Design, build, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks for UI and API testing using Playwright, Selenium, REST-assured, Karate, Java, and TypeScript.
- Integration & Microservices Validation: Validate distributed microservices, state-heavy systems, REST APIs (functional, performance, security, authn/authz), and event-driven message architectures (Kafka).
- Resiliency & Data Integrity: Execute database validations (SQL) to ensure data referential consistency, verify state transitions, and build tests for resiliency scenarios such as retries, failure handling, and idempotency.
- CI/CD & Operational Insights: Integrate test automation into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub, Bitbucket) and leverage monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, ELK) to analyze logs and system behavior under peak load.
- Quality Leadership: Partner with developers, product owners, and architects to set quality gates, mentor engineers, and drive technical excellence across modern and legacy mainframe/batch integrations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree (or 7+ years of equivalent experience) plus 5+ years of hands-on experience in manual and automated testing of complex enterprise systems.
- Core Technical Skills: Proven proficiency in Java and TypeScript for automation scripting, with strong experience in UI, API, and microservices testing.
- Data & Delivery: Strong SQL skills for relational and NoSQL database validation, paired with solid experience working in Agile/DevOps environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Domain & Architecture: Prior experience testing complex, workflow-driven operational environments (transportation, logistics, rail, or financial platforms) and event-driven architectures like Kafka.
- Legacy & Performance: Familiarity with performance testing tools (JMeter), cloud environments (AWS), and mainframe/batch-to-modern integration validation (e.g., 3270 systems).
Work Arrangement & Travel
- Location: Remote, with potential travel to client offices in Washington, DC, Wilmington, or Philadelphia as project requirements dictate.
- PI Planning: Mandatory travel required for PI Planning sessions (travel vouchers, lodging, and select meals provided by the client).
