Confluent Kafka Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Confluent Kafka Engineer with strong hands-on experience designing, developing, managing, and troubleshooting real-time streaming platforms. The ideal candidate must have prior experience working with telecommunications clients or telecom environments.

The engineer will be responsible for building and supporting highly available, low-latency Kafka streaming pipelines integrated with telecom OSS/BSS, billing, CRM, CDR, and network-event systems.

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and Confluent Platform
• Experience with Kafka Producers, Consumers, Kafka Connect, and Schema Registry
• Experience with Kafka Streams and/or ksqlDB
• Strong programming experience with Java, Python, or Scala
• Experience with Confluent Cloud and/or Kafka deployed on Kubernetes/OpenShift
• Strong knowledge of AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
• Experience with Kafka troubleshooting, performance tuning, monitoring, and optimization
• Experience with SSL/TLS, SASL authentication, RBAC, and secure data streaming
• Strong understanding of high availability, scalability, fault tolerance, and low-latency streaming
• Telecommunications industry/client experience is REQUIRED
• Experience working with OSS/BSS systems, billing platforms, CDRs, CRM, or telecom network events
• Understanding of 4G/5G network data and real-time telecom data pipelines

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and manage real-time streaming pipelines using Apache Kafka/Confluent
• Integrate Kafka with telecom systems including OSS/BSS, CRM, billing, and network platforms
• Develop and maintain Kafka producers, consumers, connectors, and streaming applications
• Configure and manage Kafka Connect and Schema Registry
• Monitor Kafka clusters and troubleshoot performance, connectivity, and reliability issues
• Perform Kafka performance tuning and capacity optimization
• Implement security using SSL/TLS, SASL, RBAC, and other Kafka security mechanisms
• Ensure high availability, scalability, reliability, and low latency of critical streaming environments
• Collaborate with application, cloud, DevOps, and telecom engineering teams
• Support real-time processing of network events, CDRs, billing data, and other telecom data streams

Preferred / Nice to Have

• Experience with Apache Flink or Spark Streaming
• Knowledge of event-driven architecture and microservices
• Experience with Confluent Cloud
• Kubernetes/OpenShift experience
• Confluent or Kafka certifications
• Experience supporting large-scale production Kafka environments

Candidate Requirements

• Telecom industry/client experience is mandatory
• Must be able to work ONSITE in Dallas, TX
