Job Description
The Senior Data Supply Chain Analyst is a highly experienced, expert-level individual contributor and subject matter expert responsible for analyzing, documenting, and improving the financial and other data Cetera receives from external parties across the wealth management data supply chain. The role reports to the Head of Third Party Data and works across a portfolio of hundreds of third-party providers and feeds end-to-end-from source and file structure through intermediaries, ingestion, enterprise platforms, mastered data, reporting, and advisor and client experiences. The analyst translates complex data problems into clear evidence, confirmed root causes, and actionable recommendations that improve data quality and increase confidence in enterprise reporting, analytics, and business decision-making.
The role begins with the Product Sponsor Quality initiative and supports the broader Third-Party Data remit covering all external parties - product sponsors, custodians, clearing firms, transfer agents, recordkeepers, aggregators, market utilities, and technology and data providers. The analyst performs cross-source reconciliation and root-cause work, and partners across Data Experience, Strategic Relations, Due Diligence, Operations, Data Quality, MDM, Data Trust, Architecture, and Engineering, as well as with the Product Sponsors directly, to reduce data friction at the source. The team enables Project Crystal Ball (PCB) and the role requires hands-on depth with industry data feeds.
Core Responsibilities:
Portfolio Coverage & Documentation
Establish and maintain reusable source profiles, file specifications, data dictionaries, mappings, change histories, and known-issue logs for assigned sources.
Manage a portfolio of third-party providers and feeds along with the inventory of files, interfaces, business purposes, internal consumers, identifiers, and key contacts current. Maintain consistent reconciliation over time, in alignment with the team so there is a consistent view and common understanding across all Product Sponsors.
Participate in the design and development of the framework by which to manage Product Sponsor discussions to increase the overall confidence of the data Cetera receives, including completeness and quality. This includes source-to-consumer data-flow and lineage documentation, and attribute-level mapping to enterprise domains such as Account, Position, Transaction, Security, Product, Sponsor, Financial Professional, Client, and Reference Data.
Establish and maintain documentation and analytical standards for third-party data analysis, reconciliation, and source assessment activities. Produce consistently high-quality, well-documented analysis and serve as a subject matter expert for assigned providers, feeds, and data domains.
Industry Data Feed Analysis & Reconciliation
Serve on a team of primary subject matter experts for assigned third-party providers and feeds, providing consultation and guidance to Data Experience, Data Quality, Architecture, Engineering, Operations, and business stakeholders on data sourcing, mappings, lineage, and issue resolution.
Work hands-on and at depth with third party data feeds, including industry feeds, e.g. DST FAN Mail, BNY DAZL, and DTCC / NSCC (NSCC IPS - POV, FAR, PRP, COM; Payment aXis commission settlement), as well as proprietary feeds.
Trace and validate how feeds move through clearing-firm files (Pershing, NFS/Fidelity, Schwab), aggregation via Broadridge / IDM (Investigo) and Albridge / ABR-DW, FI360 for retirement plan data, and downstream SmartWorks (PBD/CIS) and AdviceWorks.
Identify and execute upon cross-source profiling, reconciliation, and gap analysis of accounts, positions, transactions, balances, identifiers, and mappings, and quantify scale and business impact.
Investigate complex issues such as DTCC/DST coexistence and suppression logic, duplicate-transaction propagation, and timing or staleness; distinguish symptoms, failure points, and confirmed root causes.
Data Experience, Provider Engagement & Reporting
Translate complex technical findings into clear business impact, executive-ready summaries, visualizations, and recommendations that support prioritization, investment decisions, and remediation planning.
Prepare evidence-based issue packages and participate in working sessions with external providers, aggregators, and internal relationship owners; track decisions, dependencies, and remediation to resolution.
Build and maintain provider and feed scorecards covering completeness, timeliness, reject and exception rates, recurrence, reconciliation, and remediation progress.
Support provider-facing data expectations and change-management standards in partnership with the Head of Third-Party Data, Strategic Relations, and Data Experience teams.
Continuous Improvement & Enablement
Identify systemic patterns across feeds and recommend scalable, preventive solutions rather than one-off fixes.
Develop and promote reusable templates, playbooks, standards, analytical frameworks, and automation capabilities that improve consistency, scalability, and effectiveness across the Third-Party Data program.
Share reusable approaches and lessons learned with peers on documentation, mappings, reconciliations, and issue analyses.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Wealth management industry experience is required, including working knowledge of brokerage, advisory, custody, clearing, product sponsor, annuity/insurance, and retirement data flows.
Hands-on experience with industry data feeds is required, including sponsor and custodial feeds such as DST FAN Mail, BNY DAZL, DTCC / NSCC (NSCC IPS and Payment aXis), and clearing-firm files from Pershing, NFS/Fidelity, and Schwab, aggregated through Broadridge / IDM (Investigo) and Albridge.
Recognized expertise in financial-services data flows and the ability to independently diagnose complex cross-platform data issues spanning providers, intermediaries, enterprise systems, and business processes.
Strong SQL and advanced data-analysis skills, including profiling, reconciliation, comparison, and exception analysis across large data sets.
Demonstrated ability to drive complex analyses and move issues, decisions, dependencies, and remediation to completion across teams.
Experience creating clear documentation such as data dictionaries, mappings, data-flow and lineage views, requirements, and operating procedures.
Ability to translate between business, operations, provider, architecture, engineering, governance, and data-quality perspectives.
Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to produce leadership-ready summaries and recommendations.
Proven ability to influence outcomes and drive resolution across multiple teams and external partners without direct management authority.
Demonstrated ability to apply AI, automation, or advanced analytics to improve efficiency and scale
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam preferred; additional FINRA registrations are a plus. Active registration is not required unless role responsibilities require it.
Familiarity with data governance, metadata, lineage, master data management, reference data, and data catalog concepts.
Experience with Power BI or Tableau, Python or Power Query, APIs, and XML/JSON/delimited file handling.
Experience with industry data feed coexistence, feed suppression logic, and duplicate-transaction remediation in a broker-dealer environment.
Minimum Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent.
7+ years of experience in data analysis, data quality, data operations, or data management, including significant hands-on experience with financial-services and wealth-management industry data feeds, and enterprise-scale data quality initiatives.
Travel Requirements:
Up to 10%.
