The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Program Fuels Thermal Management Systems Engineer (NH-0861-03) to work for the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) in the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Serves as the Fuels Thermal and Aerial Refueling Engineer within F-35 Joint Program Office providing engineering expertise for aircraft fuel systems, thermal management architectures, and aerial refueling subsystems across F-35A aircraft. Support technical planning, lead airworthiness assessments for F-35A, subsystem integration, and risk management activities to ensure safe, reliable, and mission-ready fuel and refueling capabilities for F-35A U.S. and Partner Nation fleets.

DUTY 1: (Critical) 30:

Performs engineering analyses, modeling, and technical evaluations of F-35A aircraft fuel and aerial refueling system architectures, fuel distribution, venting, gauging, development, test, production, modifications, sustainment, thermal management subsystems and OSSE.

DUTY 2: (Critical) 30:

Provides technical authority for aerial refueling subsystems including receptacle, probe, boom interface, fuel transfer components, and associated controls. Conducts integration assessments for tanker compatibility, fuel transfer rates, pressure/flow characteristics, and structural/thermal impacts. Supports, data review, and Aerial Refueling Certification Agency (ARCA) for aerial refueling operation for F-35A U.S.

DUTY 3: (Critical) 40:

Conduct F-35A Airworthiness Determinations against MIL-HDBK-516 sections 8.3 and 8.7 criteria in accordance with program and Air Force service policy. Identify, document, mitigate, and monitor safety hazards and operational safety risks associated with fuel systems and aerial refueling per program and service policy. Advises program leadership on subsystem risks, mitigation strategies, and impacts to flight safety, production, and sustainment.

Other Work Requirements: This position requires the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station up to 20%.

Administrative: F-35A Utilities and Subsystem Lead

Operational: US Programmatic Lead

QUALIFICATIONS: (Education and or experience)

BS in mechanical, and or aerospace engineering

Journeyman 3+ years' experience in acquisition of military aircraft
