Job Description:
Our client is seeking an experienced Enterprise Audio Visual (AV) Systems Specialist to join their IT Infrastructure team. In this role, you will support, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize the enterprise AV environment across all office locations.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on expertise with professional audio systems, enterprise AV networking, Microsoft Teams Rooms, and commercial AV technologies. This is a hands-on technical support position focused on ensuring the reliability and performance of conference rooms, executive boardrooms, training spaces, and company-wide collaboration technologies.
The Specialist partners closely with the IT Infrastructure and Facilities teams to deliver exceptional support and maintain a stable, dependable AV environment. This role reports to Manager, Infrastructure & Help Desk.
Responsibilities:
Support and Troubleshooting:
- Support, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise AV systems across multiple office locations.
- Diagnose and resolve audio, video, control system, and networking issues throughout the AV signal chain.
- Troubleshoot microphones, speakers, amplifiers, cameras, displays, touch panels, and room control equipment.
- Identify and resolve hardware, software, and network-related AV issues.
- Deliver calm, professional support to executives and staff during live events.
Audio Systems:
- Maintain and support Shure wireless microphone systems, including:
- Shure ULXD4 Digital Wireless Receivers
- Shure ULXD4Q Quad Digital Wireless Receivers
- Support Q-SYS audio systems, including:
- Q-SYS CX-Q 2K4 Network Amplifiers
- Q-SYS DSP environments
- Audio routing and system health monitoring
AV Networking and Collaboration Platforms:
- Maintain and troubleshoot NetGear AV Series switches, including the M4250-40G8F PoE+ AV switch.
- Apply TCP/IP, VLAN, PoE, QoS, and multicast fundamentals within AV-over-IP environments.
- Support Microsoft Teams Rooms and related conference room technologies.
- Configure and support Dante audio networking across AV-over-IP environments.
Maintenance and Lifecycle Management:
- Perform firmware updates and preventative maintenance on AV hardware.
- Monitor system performance and proactively identify issues before they impact users.
- Assist with hardware replacements, upgrades, and equipment lifecycle management.
- Coordinate with third-party AV vendors when advanced support or warranty service is needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of AV systems, room inventories, and support procedures.
Event and Executive Support:
- Provide technical support for executive meetings, company events, and high-profile presentations.
- Participate in after-hours maintenance and emergency support as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 5+ years of experience supporting commercial or enterprise AV environments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with professional audio and video systems.
- Hands-on experience supporting Shure ULX-D wireless microphone systems.
- Experience supporting Q-SYS environments.
- Experience with NetGear AV switches or comparable enterprise AV networking platforms.
- Working knowledge of Dante audio networking.
- Experience supporting Microsoft Teams Rooms.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, VLANs, PoE, QoS, and multicast.
- Proven ability to diagnose hardware, software, and network-related AV issues.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple support requests in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Certifications and Experience:
- AVIXA CTS Certification
- Q-SYS Level 1 or Level 2 Certification
- Dante Certification
- Shure Wireless Certification
- Experience with Crestron or Extron control systems
- Experience supporting executive boardrooms and conference centers
- Familiarity with digital signage and PTZ camera systems
Working Conditions:
- Extended periods (6+ hours per day) seated at a desk working on a computer.
- Regular use of hands to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone keypad.
- Occasional standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds as needed.
Salary/Rate: $40-$45/HR (depends on experience level). This is a contract position with candidates expected to work 40 hours/ week.
