Role Overview
We are looking for an Engineer Structural 3 to support a Tooling department. This role requires a structural analysis background to assist in generating structural engineering analysis packages for tooling fixtures in an aerospace fabrication environment. The candidate shall analyze, research, and provide input on product design or operation involving metals, non-metallic, or composite structural materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis via hand calculations and FEMAP/NASTRAN software.
- Create reports in support of completed analysis and review the reports of others.
- Present and explain structural issues and solutions to internal management and customer representatives.
- Engage with other team members to provide solutions to complex engineering problems.
- Evaluate engineering products for conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications.
- Conduct static and dynamic analysis in support of Tooling fixtures and structures.
- Identify and mitigate safety risks in accordance with company and government standards.
- Develop and conceptualize designs using 3D modeling tools including NX & CATIA.
- Create drawings for fabrication via CAD in compliance with ASME Y14.1-5 standards.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's (STEM) Degree with experience in medium to large scale tooling fabrication and/or production fabrication including composites, metallic, coatings application, and/or production manufacturing operations.
Experience: Experience with stress analysis techniques, concepts, and practices. Analysis of simple to complex problems via hand calculations and FEA.
Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of computer aided design tools and systems (CATIA/NX). Basic ability to create, read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications in accordance with ASME 14.5. Basic level understanding of GD&T.
Must be able to communicate with various levels of leadership, coordinate and resolve interpersonal and technical problems, and work well in a team or independently with limited guidance.
Must be able to obtain a DOD Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Active DOD Secret Clearance
- Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Professional Engineering License (preferably from California) or working to obtain a PE.
- Direct experience with Tooling mechanics and analysis relative to stress.
- Experience with fabrication applying such factors as accessibility, economy, mobility, and performance requirements.
