Note: Candidates do not need to be dedicated PKI engineers. The hiring team is open to strong cybersecurity engineers with some exposure to PKI concepts who can learn quickly, work independently, and contribute as a key member of the team.
Overview Our airline industry client is seeking an experienced
Cybersecurity Engineer to join a highly visible security engineering team responsible for protecting critical enterprise and operational environments. This role is ideal for a security professional who enjoys solving complex security challenges, working independently, and contributing as a key technical resource across multiple security initiatives.
While exposure to Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) technologies is valuable, this is not a dedicated PKI engineering role. Candidates with strong cybersecurity engineering experience who understand foundational PKI concepts and can quickly learn new technologies are encouraged to apply.
This position offers the opportunity to work on large-scale security initiatives while contributing to the protection of systems that support a major airline's operations and future technology programs.
What You'll Do- Design, implement, and improve cybersecurity controls and processes across enterprise environments.
- Investigate security events and perform end-to-end analysis to identify threats, vulnerabilities, and root causes.
- Build and maintain detections, dashboards, and analytics within Microsoft Sentinel.
- Develop and refine security monitoring use cases using KQL and other security engineering tools.
- Manage remediation efforts for security findings and vulnerabilities from discovery through validated closure.
- Partner with infrastructure, cloud, application, and security teams to strengthen overall security posture.
- Write, test, automate, and document security processes, scripts, and technical solutions.
- Evaluate emerging security technologies and recommend practical improvements.
- Contribute to PKI-related initiatives including certificate-based authentication, certificate lifecycle management, and related security controls when needed.
- Operate independently while supporting larger security initiatives and strategic projects.
Required Qualifications- 5+ years of cybersecurity or security engineering experience.
- Experience owning and delivering security projects independently.
- Strong understanding of security operations, threat detection, investigation, and incident analysis.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Sentinel, including:
- KQL query development
- Detection rule creation
- Dashboard development
- Security investigations
- Experience managing vulnerability remediation and security findings through resolution.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex security issues and drive solutions with minimal oversight.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to understand the broader security picture and work as a trusted engineering partner.
Preferred Qualifications- Exposure to PKI concepts and certificate-based security technologies, such as:
- Certificate lifecycle management
- Certificate-based authentication
- Software/code signing
- SCEP, EST, or related enrollment protocols
- NIST identity and authentication frameworks
- Experience with scripting and automation using Python or PowerShell.
- Experience with security tooling APIs and integrations.
- Familiarity with endpoint security technologies.
- Exposure to AI-assisted security workflows, LLM-enabled security analysis, or security automation.
- Experience supporting highly regulated, operational technology (OT), embedded systems, manufacturing, transportation, or aviation environments.
- Experience with HSMs, key management, or code-signing platforms.

A deep PKI background is not required. Candidates who have strong security engineering experience and some exposure to PKI concepts will be considered.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $55.00 - $75.00/hr.
