A bit about us:We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team in the Athens area. This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing plastics extrusion equipment, auxiliary machinery, and facility systems to ensure efficient and safe production operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems within a manufacturing environment.

Job DetailsKey Responsibilities
- Lead all maintenance activities for plastics extrusion equipment and related production machinery, ensuring maximum uptime and equipment reliability.
- Manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs for extrusion lines, dryers, conveyors, chillers, material handling systems, and other auxiliary equipment.
- Troubleshoot and oversee repairs involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Prioritize maintenance requests and coordinate repairs to minimize production downtime.
- Supervise, train, and support maintenance technicians while helping develop their technical skills and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Partner closely with production leadership to identify recurring equipment issues and implement long-term corrective actions.
- Manage maintenance schedules, work orders, equipment records, spare parts, and inventory.
- Coordinate outside vendors, contractors, and equipment service providers when additional support is required.
- Support equipment installations, upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement projects.
- Assist with facility maintenance, utilities, and general plant infrastructure as needed.
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with company safety policies, OSHA requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, and other applicable standards.
- Track equipment performance, downtime, maintenance costs, and other key metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Help establish maintenance best practices that improve equipment life, productivity, safety, and overall plant efficiency.
Qualifications
- Previous maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally supporting plastics extrusion or similar continuous-process equipment.
- Prior leadership, supervisory, or lead maintenance experience.
- Strong hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting capabilities.
- Working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and industrial control systems.
- Experience developing and managing preventive maintenance programs.
- Ability to diagnose complex equipment issues and determine effective repair solutions.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple equipment and production needs.
- Ability to work independently while effectively coordinating with production, operations, and outside vendors.
- Strong focus on safety, equipment reliability, and minimizing production downtime.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in plastics manufacturing, extrusion, tubing, profile extrusion, or a related processing environment.
- Experience maintaining extrusion lines and auxiliary equipment including dryers, chillers, conveyors, material handling systems, and downstream equipment.
- Technical degree, apprenticeship, or certification in industrial maintenance, electrical, mechanical, or a related field.
- Experience supervising or developing maintenance technicians.
- Familiarity with CMMS systems, maintenance scheduling, work orders, and spare-parts inventory.
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting, motor controls, VFDs, sensors, and industrial electrical systems.
- Experience participating in equipment installations, upgrades, continuous improvement, or capital projects.
