We are a global company, and our products-including mobile elevating work platforms, telehandlers, utility vehicles and accessories-can be found all over the world.The Principal Engineer - Autonomy will provide design, development and integration support of software architecture, motion planning, computer vision and sensor processing algorithms, graphical user interfaces, and inter-process messaging for active safety, advanced driver assistance systems and unmanned ground vehicle control systems development.
YOUR IMPACT: - Develop and integrate ROS2-based autonomy software
- Perform engineering calculations, investigations, software development, hardware selection, and tasks as assigned according to Oshkosh as well as general industry engineering standards and processes.
- Develop software unit and regression tests
- Support more senior Engineers in the preparation of plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.
- Autonomously develop and deliver small and large portions of the overall application.
- Support supervisor, suppliers, engineering specialists, and other departments to execute job assignments consisting of meeting specifications and performing calculations, analysis, and design.
- Write requirements and design documentation.
- Direct support of programs to include travel to off-site locations as necessary to accomplish assigned engineering programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Regular attendance is required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - You produce high quality and maintainable C++ code
- Proficiency in ROS2-based software development within complex application
- Familiarity with Ubuntu 22.04+ OS
- Familiarity with distributed systems
- Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with five (5) or more years of related experience.
STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS: - Accredited Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering.
- Real world autonomy projects experience as key contributor

Pay Range:$91,500.00 - $148,100.00
The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
