Job ID: 115802
Location: Germantown, MD
Business Unit: DRS RADA Technologies
Schedule: 9/80
Shift: First
DRS RADA Technologies, a subsidiary of Leonardo DRS, is focused on proprietary radar solutions and legacy avionics systems supporting the defense industry globally. The company is a global pioneer of AESA tactical radars for active military protection, counter-drone applications, critical infrastructure protection, and border surveillance.
About the Role:DRS RADA Technologies is seeking a full-time, on-site Principal Radar Systems Analyst to provide technical leadership for radar performance analysis and systems engineering across counter-unmanned aircraft systems, counter-rocket, artillery, and mortar, and short-range air defense programs. This hands-on role is ideal for an experienced engineer who can translate complex operational needs into rigorous models, simulations, requirements, and actionable technical solutions.
What You Will Do:- Establish and maintain technical project plans to design, develop, document, test, and deliver radar performance-analysis tools that meet program cost, schedule, and technical-performance targets.
- Lead with technical rigor across the systems engineering analysis team, helping define sound approaches to complex radar and system-performance challenges.
- Develop, deploy, and maintain models, simulations, and analysis tools that inform system integration, test planning, and performance characterization.
- Translate customer needs and limited source documentation into clear system requirements, then partner with development teams to map those requirements into an Agile execution framework.
- Create and maintain systems engineering artifacts such as specifications, Interface Control Documents, use cases, system architecture descriptions, trade studies, and verification and validation plans.
- Identify technical risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and support systems design, requirements allocation, integration, and verification and validation activities.
- Mentor and coach engineers, providing technical expertise and support to engineering and operational stakeholders.
What You Bring:- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field
- A minimum of eight years of relevant experience; advanced technical and domain knowledge in systems engineering and radar performance analysis.
- Ability to independently lead a technical group and apply strong engineering judgment in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Broad systems engineering experience, including requirements management; functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design; system integration; technical risk management; and verification and validation principles.
- Experience developing and using systems engineering artifacts, including specifications, Interface Control Documents, use cases, system architecture descriptions, and trade studies.
- Experience supporting Department of Defense customers and processes, with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
- Advanced experience with analysis and automation tools such as Jenkins, Cameo, STK, MATLAB, and Python.
- Strong organizational, written communication, presentation, and analytical skills;
- U.S. citizenship is required.
What This Role Is Not:- This is not a production or manufacturing role, nor is it limited to operating a single radar system. You will work at the systems-engineering level-using analysis, models, simulations, requirements, and integration and test evidence to guide radar-enabled solution performance.
- This is not a role limited to one analysis tool or artifact. The work spans radar-performance models, simulations, requirements, architecture descriptions, trade studies, and verification and validation planning.
- This is not a remote position. This full-time role is based on-site in Germantown, Maryland, where close collaboration with systems, software, hardware, integration, test, and operational teams is essential.
- This is not an entry-level engineering role. The Principal Radar Systems Analyst is expected to work independently, lead technical workstreams, make sound engineering decisions, and mentor other team members.
- This is not analysis performed in isolation. You will work within a cross-functional team and contribute to radar-enabled products that must perform reliably in demanding real-world defense environments.
What We Bring:At DRS RADA Technologies, your work supports technologies that help protect military personnel, critical infrastructure, and communities around the world. You will join a mission-driven team developing advanced radar technology that supports system performance and real-world defense applications.
