Role Overview
The Sr. Storage and Infrastructure Engineer oversees the reliability, availability, security, and scalability of the storage, data protection, and virtualization platforms supporting the critical Data Resilience and Recovery environment. This role involves designing, building, and operating block, file, and object storage, enterprise backup and recovery platforms, and server infrastructure. Collaboration with network, security, and operations teams is necessary to deliver a highly available, isolated, and recoverable platform while automating processes to improve operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure storage infrastructure across block, file, and object platforms.
- Design, deploy, and operate virtualization platforms, including lifecycle management, upgrades, and capacity planning.
- Deploy and maintain enterprise server infrastructure, including firmware, lifecycle management, and hardware refreshes.
- Plan and execute storage, backup, and virtualization upgrades and migrations with minimal disruption.
- Utilize monitoring and alerting tools to track platform health, performance, and capacity.
- Engineer data protection platforms, focusing on policy design, replication, immutability, and recovery workflows.
- Manage and optimize replication and snapshot technologies to meet recovery objectives for critical applications.
- Automate provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle tasks using infrastructure as code and scripting.
- Conduct regular performance testing, capacity planning, and forecasting for storage and compute growth.
- Maintain the isolation and security posture of the resilience environment, ensuring changes do not compromise security standards.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in storage, systems, or site reliability engineering with enterprise block, file, and object platforms.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with enterprise data protection platforms, virtualization technologies, infrastructure as code tools, monitoring suites, and Python or Bash scripting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering role.
- Experience with isolated, air-gapped, or secure vault environments.
- Familiarity with bare-metal provisioning and network integration.
- Relevant certifications in virtualization, storage, data protection, Kubernetes, or networking.
