Overview
Serve as the owner's representative responsible for delivery assurance of critical long-lead equipment and strategic project materials supporting major utility and capital projects. This role oversees supplier performance, manufacturing progress, logistics, risk management, and EPC contractor execution from purchase order award through final delivery. The ideal candidate will drive accountability across suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure equipment is delivered on time and aligned to project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier & Delivery Assurance
- Lead delivery assurance activities for critical electrical equipment and project materials.
- Monitor supplier engineering deliverables, manufacturing schedules, testing milestones, inspections, shipment readiness, and transportation planning.
- Validate supplier delivery commitments against project schedules and required-on-site dates.
- Conduct recurring supplier performance reviews and drive accountability for commitments and recovery plans.
EPC Contractor Oversight
- Provide leadership and governance to EPC contractor personnel responsible for supplier coordination, expediting, logistics monitoring, and delivery management.
- Ensure contractors maintain appropriate visibility, reporting, documentation, and follow-through on critical delivery activities.
- Challenge schedules and commitments when risks to project execution are identified.
Risk Management
- Identify, communicate, and mitigate risks related to manufacturing delays, material shortages, transportation constraints, labor challenges, quality concerns, and supplier performance.
- Lead risk assessments and facilitate development of mitigation and recovery plans.
- Escalate significant delivery risks and supplier performance concerns with clear impacts and recommended actions.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Partner closely with Engineering, Strategic Sourcing, Project Management, Construction, Operations, suppliers, contractors, and logistics providers.
- Facilitate cross-functional reviews to resolve delivery concerns and eliminate execution barriers.
- Support project readiness efforts to ensure equipment delivery aligns with construction and operational milestones.
Reporting & Communication
- Develop executive-level dashboards and status reports tracking manufacturing progress, supplier performance, delivery forecasts, and project risks.
- Present delivery risks, mitigation plans, and performance metrics to leadership and project stakeholders.
- Capture lessons learned and recommend continuous improvements to supplier governance and delivery assurance processes.
Required Qualifications
- Requires 10+ years of experience in expediting, supplier performance management, procurement, supply chain, materials management, manufacturing, logistics, capital projects, or a related field.
- Experience working with OEM suppliers, EPC contractors, engineering organizations, project teams, and logistics providers.
- Experience supporting large capital projects within utility, energy, industrial, infrastructure, manufacturing, or EPC environments.
- Strong background in supplier management, expediting, logistics, manufacturing oversight, and delivery assurance.
- Experience working directly with EPC contractors, suppliers, and cross-functional project teams.
- Knowledge of project scheduling, critical path management, risk identification, and recovery planning.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency with SAP (or similar ERP systems), Excel, Power BI, and reporting tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting transmission, distribution, substation, generation, or other large utility infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with critical electrical equipment such as transformers, breakers, switchgear, controls, cable, conductor, and related materials.
- Experience presenting delivery risks and recovery strategies to executive leadership.
