Job Summary
Production Modeling Corporation (PMC) is seeking an experienced IAM Java & SailPoint Engineer to support enterprise Identity and Access Management (IAM) services at Michigan State University (MSU).
This is primarily a hands-on Java development and SailPoint IdentityIQ (IIQ) engineering role, focused on enterprise application development, IAM integrations, production support, and modernization initiatives.
The selected candidate will maintain and enhance Java-based IAM applications, customize SailPoint IIQ workflows and integrations, troubleshoot complex application issues, and support the IAM Modernization Program, including MyIdentity/NGP go-live and operations.
This is not a dedicated system administrator role. Strong Java development, SailPoint IIQ customization, and application troubleshooting skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Java Development & Application Integration
Analyze, reverse engineer, refactor, develop, test, and maintain Java and BeanShell components.
Develop and support Spring Boot applications, REST APIs, and enterprise integrations.
Support secure coding, software testing, code reviews, and CI/CD processes.
SailPoint IdentityIQ Engineering
Engineer and maintain SailPoint IIQ rules, workflows, connectors, provisioning policies, tasks, forms, certifications, attestations, and reports.
Support SailPoint application onboarding and identity governance integrations.
Maintain identity lifecycle workflows, provisioning, reconciliation, and access governance.
Integrate IAM services with HR systems, authoritative sources, directories, databases, cloud services, and enterprise applications.
Production Support & Troubleshooting
Troubleshoot Java applications and SailPoint IIQ production incidents.
Analyze Linux, application, middleware, and server logs.
Diagnose Java deployment and runtime issues.
Investigate problems involving Tomcat/JBoss, databases, directory integrations, connectors, and dependent services.
Perform root-cause analysis and implement sustainable fixes.
IAM Modernization & Platform Support
Support SailPoint IIQ upgrades, modernization, migrations, and workflow improvements.
Assist with MyIdentity/NGP go-live and operational support.
Improve application performance, reliability, stability, and maintainability.
Reduce technical debt and enhance platform operations.
Documentation & Collaboration
Create technical designs, release documentation, operational runbooks, and knowledge-transfer materials.
Collaborate with IAM architects, developers, application owners, and vendors.
Participate in incident communications, peer reviews, estimates, and cross-training.
Required Qualifications
Knowledge equivalent to a bachelor's degree in IT or a related field.
5–8 years of progressively responsible enterprise application/IAM experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Hands-on Java application development experience.
Experience with APIs, enterprise systems integration, software testing, and secure coding.
Strong production support, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and log analysis skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with technical and business teams.
Preferred Qualifications
5–8 years of SailPoint IdentityIQ (IIQ) engineering/administration experience.
SailPoint IIQ certification or comparable technical expertise.
Strong knowledge of Java, BeanShell, Spring Boot, REST APIs, XML, JSON, and SQL.
Experience with Git, CI/CD, unit testing, and integration testing.
Linux troubleshooting and Java application deployments.
Tomcat/JBoss application servers and middleware.
Kubernetes/OpenShift environments.
Performance tuning, monitoring, metrics, tracing, and high-availability operations.
Availability for occasional scheduled after-hours support.
Expected Deliverables
Maintain and enhance Java/IAM applications and SailPoint IIQ services.
Resolve and document production defects and cross-stack incidents.
Deliver tested IAM integrations, application enhancements, and modernization work.
Provide technical designs, release documentation, operational runbooks, and knowledge transfer to MSU staff.
