Join a leading California utility as a Senior Substation Project Engineer, leading the engineering and design of complex substation projects. This senior-level role requires strong technical expertise, independent problem-solving, and the ability to provide engineering leadership, mentorship, and technical direction to project teams.
Key Responsibilities
Manage large, complex projects and perform engineering analyses, studies, and conceptual designs.
Lead, coach, direct, and assist technical employees and teams on technical issues; may serve as an engineering mentor.
Assist in finalizing contract project specifications and evaluating contract project bids.
Provide support to other departments regarding land, permitting, and legal issues.
Resolve complex engineering problems, including those requiring creative or non-standard approaches, while independently planning work under general direction.
Collaborate with contractors, vendors, local public agencies, internal project teams, clients, and company management to exchange information and resolve issues.
Provide technical direction and support to less experienced team members.
Minimum Qualifications
8+ years of cumulative experience in electrical engineering and design.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited U.S. program or equivalent international degree.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting multiple large-scale, high-budget electric substation projects.
Strong experience in substation engineering and design.
Demonstrated project management experience.
Current California Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Strong presentation, communication, leadership, and technical problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional and project teams.
Work Environment - This is a hybrid position, with work performed remotely and at an assigned work location in Oakland, West Sacramento, or Fresno, CA. 2 days minimum onsite is required, but can change based on business needs.
Rate: $70 - $85 W2
Duration: 08/24/26 - 12/31/26 (strong likelihood of converting to FT Direct Hire)
