Role Summary
The Anaplan Solution Architect will be responsible for the architecture, design, governance and delivery of Fitch's Anaplan platform, supporting Integrated Financial Planning (IFP), Operational Workforce Planning (OWP) and wider enterprise planning initiatives. The role will focus heavily on Fitch's IFP and OWP platforms, ensuring alignment between Finance and HR planning processes while supporting the broader Connected Planning strategy. This is a hands-on role requiring deep expertise in model building, Polaris, integrations, performance optimisation and platform governance, while working closely with FP&A, HR, Finance Systems and technology teams.
The successful candidate will own solution design decisions, drive best practice across the Anaplan Centre of Excellence and contribute to the strategic roadmap for connected planning and AI-enabled business processes.
Key Responsibilities
Required Experience
- Significant hands-on Anaplan experience in a Solution Architect, Lead Model Builder or equivalent role.
- Anaplan Level 3 Model Builder certification required; Master Anaplanner designation is highly desirable.
- Strong experience designing and supporting Anaplan Polaris models.
- Proven delivery experience across Integrated Financial Planning (IFP), budgeting, forecasting, scenario modelling and management reporting.
- Proven experience implementing and supporting Operational Workforce Planning (OWP), workforce modelling, position planning and HR planning solutions within Anaplan.
- Strong understanding of Finance and HR planning processes and how they integrate within a connected planning ecosystem.
- Experience designing and supporting enterprise integrations between Anaplan and source systems.
- Proven ability to lead solution architecture decisions, establish governance standards and mentor development teams.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work directly with Finance, HR and senior business leaders.
Hands-On Development
- Build and enhance complex Anaplan models, modules, lists, actions, processes, UX pages and workflows.
- Troubleshoot calculation, performance and data-quality issues.
- Support Polaris model design and optimisation.
- Review and improve existing models to increase efficiency, resilience and user adoption.
Solution Architecture and Delivery
- Lead the end-to-end architecture and design of Anaplan models, data hubs, integrations and user experiences.
- Define scalable solutions using Anaplan best practices, the DISCO methodology and appropriate performance optimisation techniques.
- Provide technical leadership across new implementations, enhancements and transformation projects.
- Ensure models remain maintainable, performant and aligned with business objectives.
Platform Governance and CoE Leadership
- Establish and maintain development standards, architecture principles and governance processes.
- Own ALM, release management, testing, documentation and deployment standards.
- Support the continued development of the Anaplan Centre of Excellence.
- Reduce key-person risk through knowledge sharing, documentation and mentoring.
Integrations and Data Architecture
- Design and oversee integrations between Anaplan and enterprise platforms, including SAP, Oracle, HR systems and other finance applications.
- Support Anaplan Data Orchestrator, CloudWorks, APIs and related integration technologies.
- Ensure data quality, reconciliation, security and auditability are embedded in solution design.
Business Partnership
- Partner with FP&A, HR and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable planning solutions.
- Challenge and improve planning processes through technology and automation.
- Support executive reporting, forecasting, budgeting, workforce planning and scenario modelling initiatives.
Production Support and Continuous Improvement
- Provide third-line support for critical production issues.
- Drive platform optimisation, technical-debt reduction and continuous improvement.
- Balance business-as-usual support with the delivery of strategic change initiatives.
Desirable Experience
- Financial services industry experience.
- Experience with Anaplan Data Orchestrator, CloudWorks, APIs and workflow solutions.
- A finance qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
- Experience supporting connected planning, AI and automation initiatives.
- Experience building and leading Anaplan Centres of Excellence.
