Position Overview
Caterpillar is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer 3 to join a technical team focused on robotics, autonomosemi-autonomous systems, positioning, and localization.
The engineer will develop production-quality C++ software and localization algorithms that enable autonomous and semi-autonomous machines to determine their position and altitude relative to the surrounding environment.
The role involves working with perception, inertial, and GNSS inputs, developing state-estimation and filtering solutions, and taking algorithms from research/prototype stages through production.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, design, develop, and implement localization and positioning algorithms.
- Develop production-quality C++ software for autonomous and semi-autonomous systems.
- Work on algorithms that allow robotic systems to localize robustly within their environment.
- Estimate position and altitude using multiple sources, including:
- Perception-based inputs
- Inertial measurement inputs
- GNSS inputs
- Develop and implement filtering and state-estimation solutions.

- Candidates with a Master's degree may qualify with 2 years of experience.
