Job DetailsWhat You'll Do:
- Lead and develop high-performing multidisciplinary engineering teams across mechanical, electrical, software, embedded systems, and test/verification disciplines.
- Build a collaborative, innovative engineering culture focused on technical excellence, accountability, continuous improvement, and speed to market.
- Drive the strategic direction and execution of the product development roadmap from concept through commercialization and sustaining engineering.
- Partner closely with manufacturing and operations teams to ensure products are designed for efficient production, quality, reliability, and scalability.
- Identify emerging technologies, industry trends, and market opportunities that can strengthen the company's product portfolio and competitive position.
- Partner with executive leadership to evaluate technical opportunities and risks affecting product performance, cost, profitability, timelines, manufacturability, and customer satisfaction.
- Lead technology strategy, intellectual property development, and long-term engineering roadmap planning.
- Establish priorities and allocate engineering resources based on business objectives, market opportunities, customer needs, manufacturing requirements, and technical considerations.
- Develop and manage relationships with external engineering partners, technical suppliers, and development resources.
- Strengthen engineering processes, standards, metrics, and best practices to improve product quality, development speed, cost efficiency, manufacturability, and execution.
- Ensure products meet applicable safety, regulatory, design, manufacturing, and performance requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement across product development, engineering operations, testing, verification, manufacturing readiness, and industrialization activities.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, commercial teams, operations, manufacturing, supply chain, and senior leadership.
What We're Looking For:
Leadership & Strategic Experience:
- Proven experience leading product engineering, R&D, or multidisciplinary engineering organizations within a manufacturing environment is required.
- Manufacturing experience is required. Candidates must have experience supporting the development and industrialization of physical products that are manufactured at scale.
- Demonstrated success developing and executing product strategies and technology roadmaps.
- Strong understanding of the complete product lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through development, validation, manufacturing, production launch, and sustaining engineering.
- Experience building, developing, and scaling high-performing engineering teams.
- Strong ability to connect engineering priorities with business strategy, market needs, customer requirements, manufacturing capabilities, and financial objectives.
- Exceptional cross-functional leadership skills with the ability to partner effectively across engineering, manufacturing, operations, supply chain, sales, and executive leadership.
- Strong business and financial acumen, including experience evaluating product investments, costs, margins, manufacturability, and business cases.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
Technical Background:
- Required: Demonstrated experience developing physical products within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong technical understanding of industrial automation, process measurement, instrumentation, sensing technologies, or related industrial products.
- Experience managing teams responsible for the development of products involving combinations of:
o Embedded software
o Electronics and electrical systems
o Mechanical engineering
o Sensors and instrumentation
o Controls and automation
o Test and verification engineering
- Experience with embedded systems designed for demanding industrial environments.
- Knowledge of the physical and chemical principles used in measuring process variables such as flow, conductivity, pH, pressure, temperature, or similar parameters.
- Experience leading product development from initial requirements through architecture, hardware and software development, verification, manufacturing readiness, production launch, and sustaining support.
- Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Test (DFT), verification, validation, product industrialization, and manufacturing transfer.
- Strong understanding of the relationship between engineering design decisions and manufacturing cost, quality, throughput, reliability, and scalability.
Education & Experience:
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline with significant relevant engineering experience; or
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field with extensive directly relevant experience.
- Significant experience as an engineer, researcher, technical leader, or engineering manager in a manufacturing or industrial product environment.
- Extensive experience leading project teams and managing engineering or R&D organizations.
- Experience working closely with manufacturing operations and leading products through industrialization and production launch is required.
- Experience leading engineering teams in a global or multi-site environment is highly preferred.
