Your ResponsibilitiesAs a
Senior Embedded Security Engineer for
John Deere World Headquarters located in Johnston, IA, you will:
- Design, develop, and validate security controls for resource-constrained embedded devices, using cryptographic technologies such as HSMs and trusted execution environments
- Define and review security architectures for embedded systems, influencing the design of new features (embedded, cloud and mobile) to ensure that our security needs can be met
- Support penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and security validation activities to identify weaknesses and improve product resilience
- Support our teams developing the next generation of autonomous systems by designing and developing new security controls for those systems

What Skills You Need- 5 or more years experience in hands-on development and troubleshooting of embedded systems
- Programming experience in C, C++ and Python
- Experience with Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS), Linux and building concurrent systems
- Strong documentation, writing, and communications skills
What Makes You Standout- Experience in the application of cryptographic security controls for embedded systems (ex - enabling secure boot)
- Experience with ISO/SAE 21434 (Road Vehicle Cybersecurity Engineering)
- Experience in the development of embedded systems for vehicles
- Experience in the development of IoT devices
- PKI experience, including certificate lifecycle management and key protection
Education- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field
