Job Overview
Our client is seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join a correctional institution or community-based facility in Lambertville, NJ. Under the direction of a supervisory officer, the Social Worker will assume a caseload of inmates, providing counseling, assessment, and program planning services to support rehabilitation and reintegration.
Key Responsibilities
- Interview newly received inmates to gather social, economic, and relevant background information
- Develop social histories for diagnostic, institutional adjustment, and rehabilitative purposes
- Plan, implement, and evaluate inmate participation in rehabilitative programs
- Provide access to institutional and community resources for medical, psychological, or other needs
- Develop and facilitate counseling sessions or group discussions
- Prepare and maintain case histories, reports, and correspondence
- Submit statistical reports on services rendered
- Provide referral services to identify and assess treatment needs of substance abusers
- Assist in planning to motivate inmates toward constructive lifestyles upon release
Required Skills
- Knowledge of modern social work theory, standards, and methods
- Experience working with correctional populations or individuals with substance abuse issues
- Strong assessment, counseling, and case management skills
- Ability to prepare clear, accurate reports and maintain records
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
Preferred Skills
- Bilingual in Spanish and English (separate variant available for bilingual candidates)
- Experience with electronic and manual recording/information systems

Onsite — 1750 River Road, Lambertville, NJ 08530. No remote option available.
Engagement Details
4-month contract. Candidates must meet one of the following: 5 years of professional social casework experience; OR a bachelor's degree plus 1 year of relevant experience; OR a bachelor's degree in social work with supervised field placement accredited by CSWE; OR a master's degree in social work.
