As a
Data Engineering Intern, you will work to support clinical data management and development of complex electro-mechanical medical device systems within the Interventional Cardiology Coronary Therapies team. This role will utilize a variety of new and proven technologies to deliver life-changing medical devices to patients and clinicians in support of BSC's mission.
Your responsibilities will include: - Review, annotate, and prepare medical images to support machine learning & classical algorithm development.
- Maintain the storage and organization of medical images, annotations, and associated information.
- Develops and supports validation of tools for analyzing data sets and processing medical images through commercial & exploratory algorithms.
- Write and run unit tests
- Support code refactoring and testing code written by others
- Collaborate closely with data scientists, cloud data engineers, algorithm engineers, clinical engineers, software engineers and systems engineers locally and globally
- In all actions, lead with integrity and demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to all documented quality processes and procedures.
Required Qualifications: - Must graduate between December 2027 - Spring 2029
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or graduate level degree majoring in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering
- Must be able to commit to one of the following full internship program periods: May 17th - August 6th OR May 24th - August 13th
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the Maple Grove or Arbor Lakes Minnesota Boston Scientific Corporate location
Preferred Qualifications:- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse, cross-functional teams
- Passion to learn new technologies and find new solutions
- Previous internship or co-op experience
- Desire to work in a medical device company where real products get manufactured
- Experience with AWS and cloud technologies
- Experience with machine learning development frameworks
- Working knowledge of image processing
- Manipulating tabular metadata using SQL and Python's Pandas library
