The Radar Mechanical Design Department leads mechanical design, development, and integration of some of the most innovative land-based and shipboard radars in the world. This includes phased array radar systems, electronic modules, pedestals, and power and cooling systems. The department comprises individuals with technical expertise and experience in hardware design, integration, and production support.
\n
\n
The Radar Mechanical Design Department is seeking an experienced Associate Director Engineer to serve as the Hardware Lead for the Ground-Based Radar Digitization (GBRD) program. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the technology and obsolescence updates across multiple early warning radar sites, driving modernization and ensuring system continuity.

This multi-phase program is led by the Air and Space Defense Systems business unit and emphasizes hardware commonality and technological advancement. As the Hardware Lead, you will act as the primary technical focal point for hardware across the Integrated Product Teams, ensuring seamless hardware delivery and alignment with program goals.
\n

This is an onsite position based in Marlborough, MA, or Tewksbury, MA, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to a program of critical importance to national defense.
\n
\n
What You Will Do
\n
\n - Experience in leading a cross functional team including members from Engineering, Operations, Integrated Supply Chain, and Quality through production, issue resolution, and cost reduction initiatives.
\n - Demonstrate knowledge and experience implementing EVMS and Risk & Opportunity Management.
\n - Experience in program planning, budgeting, and tracking to cost and schedule.
\n - The role requires close management of Engineering production support while simultaneously balancing resulting performance with the ability to meet the customers critical schedule requirements.
\n - Regular review of program status including tracking and review by both Engineering Leadership and Program Leadership.
\n - Extensive knowledge of hardware engineering capabilities to ensure successful technical execution.
\n - Partner with the chief engineer, technical leads, Operations leads, and Mission Assurance.
\n - Provides technical conscience, challenged with making sure the product and process meet appropriate standards and requirements.
\n - Ensures balance with risk conditions and constraints while advising leadership
\n Visible and accountable for technical decisions. \n - The position requires frequent interaction with all levels of Raytheon Management, internal and external customers.
\n - The position requires frequent interaction with USG customer s technical and quality leadership, as well as regular customer briefings at management reviews and Technical Interchange meetings
\n - Willing to travel domestically in support of Hardware and Program activities

Qualifications You Must Have
\n
\n - Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 10 years experience.
\n - Experience leading and participating in design and development activities of Radar Design technologies.
\n - Experience in leadership positions.
\n - Experience preparing both technical and cost proposals.
\n - Experience with EVMS Earned Value Management and other program management skills.
\n

Qualifications We Prefer
\n
\n - Extensive knowledge of transition to production and the ability to lead a design release into ongoing production.
\n - 10+ years participating in leadership positions.
\n - Advanced degree in Engineering discipline.
\n - Strong interpersonal and communication skills; both verbal and written.
\n - Experience in driving Cost Reduction Initiatives and partnering with Suppliers in reducing costs and or driving quick closure to issues.

The salary range for this role is 157,200 USD - 298,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
