Travel: Approximately 30-50%
Schedule: Monday-Friday with periodic travel and occasional field support outside normal business hours based on project needs.

A Day in the Life of a Regional Landfill Engineer- Lead landfill cell design, construction, and development projects across multiple locations.
- Partner with landfill managers and operations teams to maximize airspace utilization and improve site performance.
- Manage capital projects from planning and budgeting through construction and project closeout.
- Provide engineering support for landfill gas, leachate, stormwater, grading, erosion control, and environmental systems.
- Develop scopes of work, cost estimates, schedules, and project budgets.
- Coordinate activities with consultants, contractors, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders.
- Assist with permitting, compliance initiatives, and environmental reporting requirements.
- Conduct site visits to evaluate operating conditions, support construction activities, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with Operations, Environmental, Maintenance, and Finance teams to support business objectives.
- Help ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Must Have- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in landfill operations, heavy civil construction, mining, earthwork, environmental engineering, aggregates, or related industries.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong project management, budgeting, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to work directly with field operations and senior leadership.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and engineering-related software applications.
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout the region.
- Preferred Experience/Skills
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Solid waste, landfill, environmental, or geotechnical engineering experience.
- Experience with landfill permitting, compliance, landfill gas, leachate, and airspace development.
- Construction management and contractor oversight experience.
- Experience supporting large-scale capital improvement projects.
