Job Title: Release Train Engineer (RTE) Gen AI Delivery
Location: Bedminster, NJ
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Release Train Engineer to lead delivery for our Gen AI Agile Release Train (ART). You will act as the chief Scrum Master and servant-leader for multiple cross-functional teams (data engineering, ML/AI engineering, platform, and product), ensuring coordinated, predictable, and high-quality delivery of Gen AI capabilities. This role requires someone who can operate confidently in a fast-moving, technically complex environment and bring structure without slowing down innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitate Agile Release Train events: PI Planning, System Demos, Inspect & Adapt (I&A), Scrum of Scrums, and PO Sync
Coordinate and align 3 6 teams delivering Gen AI features, models, and platform capabilities
Identify, track, and resolve cross-team dependencies, risks, and impediments
Partner with Product Management, Architecture, and Engineering leads to maintain a healthy program backlog and delivery cadence
Drive transparency through metrics and reporting (velocity, predictability, flow, dependency status) to senior stakeholders including CDO leadership
Coach teams and Scrum Masters on Agile/SAFe practices, continuously improving delivery maturity
Manage escalations and facilitate decision-making across technical and business stakeholders
Support integration of Gen AI-specific delivery nuances (model experimentation cycles, data dependencies, responsible AI/compliance checkpoints) into standard Agile cadences
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, psychological safety, and accountability across the train
Required Experience & Skills
5+ years in Agile delivery roles, with at least 2 3 years specifically as an RTE or Scrum Master at scale (multi-team/program level)
Strong working knowledge of SAFe (certification preferred: SPC or RTE certification)
Experience coordinating delivery across technical domains - ideally including data, AI/ML, or platform engineering teams
Excellent stakeholder management skills; comfortable engaging with senior leadership (CDO, Product, Engineering Heads)
Strong facilitation, conflict-resolution, and servant-leadership skills
Familiarity with Agile tooling (Jira, Jira Align, Azure DevOps, or similar)
Ability to translate technical delivery risk (e.g., model performance issues, data pipeline delays) into business-relevant risk communication
Comfortable operating in ambiguity - Gen AI delivery cycles often diverge from traditional software timelines
Nice to Have
Prior exposure to Gen AI/ML delivery lifecycles (model training, evaluation, deployment, MLOps)
Experience working within a CDO or data-driven organization
Knowledge of responsible AI governance or compliance frameworks
Why This Role Matters
Gen AI delivery often involves unusual dependency chains - data readiness, model iteration cycles, compute constraints, and evolving requirements - that don't map neatly onto typical software delivery. This RTE will be central to keeping delivery predictable and stakeholders aligned as the program scales.
