About the Opportunity: We're looking for an experienced Building Automation Service Technician to join a growing independent controls contractor serving customers throughout the Nashville area. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys troubleshooting complex HVAC control systems, building long-term customer relationships, and helping customers maximize building performance through reliable automation solutions.
You'll support a diverse portfolio of commercial facilities including healthcare, higher education, government, office buildings, manufacturing, industrial, and mission-critical environments. The company specializes in open BACnet building automation systems, energy management, system integration, and long-term service partnerships.
What You'll Do
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS).
- Perform controller programming modifications, graphics updates, database changes, and point-to-point verification.
- Commission new installations and support retrofit and system expansion projects.
- Diagnose HVAC control issues involving air handlers, VAVs, chillers, boilers, central plants, and associated mechanical equipment.
- Optimize control sequences to improve occupant comfort, system reliability, and energy efficiency.
- Respond to customer service calls and provide technical support both onsite and remotely.
- Work closely with project managers, programmers, mechanical contractors, and facility personnel to resolve system issues.
- Document service activities and maintain accurate service reports.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of experience servicing commercial Building Automation or HVAC Controls systems.
- Experience troubleshooting DDC control systems and commercial HVAC equipment.
- Familiarity with BACnet communications, controllers, and networked building automation systems.
- Experience with one or more BAS platforms such as Reliable Controls, Niagara, Tridium, Schneider Electric, Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Distech, Alerton, Delta Controls, Automated Logic, or similar.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel locally throughout the greater Nashville area.
