The Electrical Engineer I in Product Line Engineering supports the ongoing development, maintenance, and improvement of existing products across the company's vehicle and automation product lines. This role focuses on executing engineering changes, resolving electrical and embedded system defects, validating updates, and supporting product line variant development. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure all electrical designs, cable harnesses, schematics, and documentation meet performance, reliability, and quality standards.
Job Functions:- Assist in the design and development of embedded electronic circuits and system-level electrical architectures for new product variants.
- Implement and support engineering changes (ECOs) for existing products, including defect resolution and incremental design improvements.
- Create and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable harness designs.
- Support embedded circuit updates and limited firmware modifications under guidance.
- Perform validation and functional testing of updated or revised electrical systems using lab instruments and data acquisition equipment.
- Document design changes, test results, and updates in the company's PLM or document control system.
- Some support of Allen Bradley PLC product control
- Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving for product defects or field issues.
- Ensure all changes comply with company standards, quality processes, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide input on reliability, manufacturability, and maintainability of electrical designs.
Travel Requirements: - 5% overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Bastian Solutions)
Preferred Skills and Required Qualifications :- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or related field.
- 0-2 years of relevant experience in electrical design, testing or vehicle systems
- Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD, Mentor Graphics).
- Exposure to cable harness design and documentation practices.
- Basic understanding of embedded systems and microcontroller-based designs.
- Experience using lab equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and data acquisition systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional engineering team.
- Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced product development environment.
- Strong Microsoft Office experience, including MS Excel, Word, & PowerPoint
- Exposure or experience with AutoCAD Electrical, Solidworks Electrical, Altium Designer, Studio 5000, and/or other eCAD & PLC software packages
- Must be eligible to work in the US long-term without the need of sponsorship
