Location: Norfolk, Virginia (Onsite)
Role Overview
This position requires a Systems Engineer to work alongside development and operations teams to ensure reliable software deployments, monitor systems, and enhance the overall reliability of the platform. The role involves developing features, automating processes, and improving engineering, maintenance, and reliability with SRE/DevOps tools and Infrastructure-as-Code. The ideal candidate will be motivated to identify and resolve system bugs independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with development and operations teams to ensure software deployments and monitor systems.
- Develop features using AI coding tools and scripts to automate, scale, test, and secure cloud infrastructure and pipelines.
- Enhance performance monitoring of systems using Splunk or other dashboard reporting tools.
- Identify and optimize performance bottlenecks in the cloud infrastructure.
- Develop and code high-quality pipeline automation workflows.
- Develop and execute test strategies that simulate real-world failure scenarios.
- Design, implement, and maintain automated test suites for infrastructure and application components.
- Build automated systems for continuous performance testing, stress testing, and load testing.
- Work with SREs, developers, and operations teams to define and validate reliability goals.
- Ensure new services and features undergo thorough testing for performance, reliability, and failure recovery.
Required Qualifications
Education: Requires a BS degree with 5-10 years of prior relevant experience or a Master's degree with 4-8 years of prior relevant experience.
Experience:- Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) environments at an enterprise scale.
- Hands-on experience creating and managing MECM device collections, task sequences, applications, and operating system deployment images.
- Expertise in automating MECM administrative tasks using PowerShell, APIs, and infrastructure-as-code tooling.
- Strong background in Windows endpoint management, including patching strategies and compliance baselines.
- Experience integrating MECM with cloud-based services such as Intune, Azure AD, and Windows Update for Business.
- Experience supporting enterprise-wide operating system deployments using MECM automation pipelines.
- Knowledge of SQL Server administration relevant to maintaining MECM databases.
- Experience with Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket) and creating JIRA and/or Azure DevOps workflows.
- Experience with commercial cloud infrastructure deployment environments such as AWS and Azure.
Technical Skills:- Minimum of DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II Certification is required prior to onboarding and must be maintained.
- Experience with automated script design, coding, and debugging using bash or python.
- Experience administrating/maintaining SRE platforms via Ansible playbooks.
- Experience with automated provisioning and configuration tools like Terraform, Cloud Formation, Chef, Puppet, or Ansible.
- Working knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and DISA STIGs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous work experience providing support to the NGEN-NMCI program.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
- ITILv4, Scrum Master, or Agile SAFe certification(s) or applicable experience.

This position requires local travel to support program execution in secure environments.
