Location: Orlando, Florida (On-site)
Duration: 6 Month Contract to Hire
Rate: $20-$25 Per Hour
Role Overview
We are seeking a Fire Alarm/Low Voltage Technician for commercial construction projects, primarily in the K-12 and government sectors. This role involves installing, wiring, and troubleshooting fire alarm, voice/data, and security systems. The ideal candidate will be capable of reading blueprints and working with minimal supervision on a job site after an initial period of being paired with a senior technician.
Key Responsibilities
- Install fire alarm, voice/data, and security systems.
- Install commercial and industrial electrical power systems and conduit.
- Pull and terminate Cat 5/Cat 6 wires for low voltage systems.
- Install and wire field devices, including fishing walls and doors.
- Troubleshoot circuit opens, shorts, or ground conditions.
- Read blueprints, technical drawings, and diagrams to follow specifications.
- Complete necessary paperwork, including timesheets and expense reports, and maintain as-built drawings.
- Comply with industry standards and safety programs, including NFPA 70 and NFPA 72 installation requirements.
Required Qualifications
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience: A minimum of one year of experience in commercial low voltage installation is required. Experience with fire alarm systems is preferred, but experience with structured cabling, data, CCTV, or access control is also acceptable. The candidate must have experience with Cat 5/Cat 6 wire pulling and termination.
Technical Skills: The candidate must possess basic hand tools such as a screwdriver and wire strippers. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required, as this role involves direct travel to job sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with fire alarm panels (Notifier or Potter) or programming.
- FASA/BASA certification.
