- Analyze customer, stakeholder, vehicle, system, safety, and regulatory requirements and decompose them into software-level requirements, architectural constraints, interfaces, and verification criteria.
- Develop and maintain software architecture models that define:
- Software components and responsibilities
- Functional allocation
- Internal and external interfaces
- Data and control flows
- Operating modes and state behavior
- Network communication
- Timing, performance, memory, and resource constraints
- Fault detection, diagnostics, and degraded-operation behavior
- Preform architectural trade studies and recommend solutions based on functionality, performance, reliability, safety, cybersecurity, maintainability, reuse, implementation complexity, and lifecycle cost.
- Define standard software interfaces between vehicle controllers, displays, sensors, actuators, gateways, controls applications, and external systems.
- Participate in design reviews and document findings, risks, actions, and recommendations.
- Support safety analyses such as Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment, Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, and Fault Tree Analysis.
- Work with systems engineers, controls engineers, developers, and functional safety engineers to develop software and system safety architectures.
- Work with implementation teams to clarify requirements, interfaces, safety constraints, and architectural intent.
- Review supplier requirements, software architecture, detailed designs, verification plans, and compliance evidence.
- Assess the technical impact of proposed changes across software components, interfaces, safety analyses, verification activities, vehicle functions, and dependent systems.
- Apply model-based systems and software engineering methods, including UML and SysML, where appropriate.
- Build consensus across software, systems, controls, hardware, safety, cybersecurity, test, manufacturing, service, and supplier organizations.
- Manage multiple priorities and complete assigned projects or portions of projects within established schedule and budget objectives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Accredited bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
