Genesis10 is currently seeking a Feature Lead / Tech Lead - Java for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Pennington, NJ. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity. This role focuses on leading the design, development, and delivery of complex features within a Java-based ecosystem. The ideal candidate will architect and build event-driven systems using Java, Spring Boot, and Kafka, with a strong focus on microservices architecture, system reliability, and maintainability, while providing technical leadership and mentorship to development teams.
Responsibilities: - Lead the architectural design and implementation of new features, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and maintainable
- Design and implement scalable, high-performance backend systems using Java and Spring Boot
- Architect and build event-driven systems using Kafka
- Take end-to-end ownership of the feature lifecycle, from requirements gathering and technical design to deployment and post-release monitoring
- Drive technical standards by performing rigorous code reviews and implementing best practices
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
- Optimize database interactions and schema design using Oracle
- Troubleshoot complex production issues and implement long-term fixes
Requirements: - 10+ years of experience in backend development with Java
- Deep expertise in Java (Java 17/21 preferred) and the Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Data)
- Proven experience in designing distributed systems, microservices architectures, and event-driven patterns
- Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka for building event-driven systems
- Strong proficiency and experience with Oracle databases, including performance tuning and query optimization
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong knowledge of REST APIs, messaging systems, and asynchronous processing
- Expertise in TDD/BDD practices and automated testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito, Testcontainers)
- Excellent ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and technical leadership skills

Pay range: $55.06 - $63.06 per hour
