RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Power Distribution Automation Engineer onsite in Phoenix, AZ.
Summary:
The client is looking for a seasoned Automation Engineer with a strong controls engineering background supporting critical power and/or renewable energy environments. This role focuses on designing, deploying, and supporting PLC and HMI systems used in power distribution applications.
You will play a key role in system design, validation, and troubleshooting, working closely with engineering teams and customers to deliver high-quality automation solutions. This position also serves as a technical mentor to junior engineers and requires occasional travel to support project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and deploy PLC and HMI solutions for power distribution systems
* Support system validation, testing, and troubleshooting activities
* Collaborate with engineering teams on component selection and system design
* Serve as a technical mentor and escalation point for junior engineers
* Interface directly with customers to gather and execute technical requirements
* Travel to customer sites as needed (~20%)
REQUIREMENTS:
* 10+ years of experience in automation or related engineering roles
* 3+ years of providing field support for automated systems
* 2+ years of Codesys programming experience
* Strong knowledge of IEC 61131-3 standards is essential; Candidates should be comfortable discussing core programming languages within this standard
* Experience with industrial automation platforms (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens, Modicon, Honeywell TDC)
* Ability to design and deploy PLC/HMI systems in complex environments
Preferred Experience:
* Electrical panel design experience
* Background in power distribution or critical power systems
* Experience supporting commissioning, validation, and troubleshooting efforts
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
