Job Description

Software Engineer I develops and maintains software applications, writes clean and efficient code, completes code reviews with guidance and automated testing to ensure high-quality deliverables, debugs software components, and supports and monitors software across various environments.

Responsibilities

Develops and maintains software applications
Writes clean, efficient, and well-documented code
Completes code reviews and automated testing with guidance from peers and leaders
Debugs basic software components and identifies code defects for remediation
Supports and monitors software across test, integration, and production environments
Collaborates and co-creates effectively with teams in product and the business to align technology initiatives with business objectives
Uses AI tools to support coding, testing, debugging, and documentation tasks and leverages AI features in development tools to improve task efficiency and code quality
Applies AI-generated recommendations with guidance, validating outputs for accuracy, quality, and alignment with engineering standards and maintains accountability for outputs

Qualifications

Computer Science, or equivalent degree, or industry experience.
Minimum 2 years software development experience in a professional work environment working with Java technologies (Vertx, Spring, Spring Boot, RESTful micro services, Spark, In-Memory Computing, Spark, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, Kafka, Yugabyte ,RESTful API's, Apache Spark is a plus).
Hands-on work experience with application design, software development and automated testing
Experience with distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, relational or NoSQL databases.
Ability to effectively interpret technical and business objectives and challenges and eloquent solutions.
Ability to learn and investigate new technology and business domains, question status quo and think outside of the box.
Ability to debug basic software components and identify code defects for remediation.
Experience working in Agile or other rapid application development methods.
Proficient oral and written communication skills.
