Job Title: Senior Network Security Automation Engineer Location: 100% Remote Duration: 07+ Months Contract with Extension Job id - 180995 Job Description: - Client is seeking a highly skilled Network and Security Automation Engineer to join client's team.
- The ideal candidate will have strong technical and organizational skills, with a solid understanding of software-focused application support for core networking technologies, including LAN, WAN, routing, switching, AWS connectivity and several security platforms - Firewall, Proxy, Load Balancers, DDoS, SASE, DNS and VPN.
- This role involves engineering support for projects, advanced troubleshooting, network automation, and maintaining network infrastructure across various environments including Cloud and Hybrid connectivity.
Responsibilities: Network Automation: - Develop and implement network automation ideas to reduce repetitive manual health checks and eliminate the possibility of human error.
- Advanced knowledge of Python programming - NetDevOps focused.
- Thorough understanding of data structures (SQL, JSON, YAML, XML) Experience using APIs for network automation.
- Proficient in Github, Gitlab and using Co-Pilot
- Experience in Ansible configuration management, collections, and writing playbooks.
- Lead technical discussions to understand business requirements and translate them into functional specifications.
- Develop comprehensive graphical and text-based design documentation and effectively manage the implementation process from design to customer acceptance.
Network Management and Support: - Provide engineering support for projects, including design, implementation, testing, and support for new deployments, expansions, environment refreshes, and upgrades.
- Interface with multiple teams from business areas, network architecture, cloud governance, and network tools management as a team representative on feature developments and enterprise initiatives.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting to identify, resolve, and provide root cause analysis of network-related issues.
- Assist with maintaining network Co-Locations and LAN/WAN infrastructure and systems for small, regional, and large office and campus environments.
- Support a large complex data network infrastructure by using network monitoring and management tools.
- Familiarity with Agile software development tools - Atlassian Confluence + Jira Engage in continuous learning to stay abreast of new and emerging technologies.
Network Configuration and Security: - Provide LAN routing, switching, wireless, and security configuration and deployment assistance within various environments.
- Make configuration standardization and upgrades for vulnerability remediation in a timely manner.
- Plan and execute OS upgrades on various network platforms, maintaining current standards.
- Provide technical expertise on secure networks technology areas.
- Assist clients through the planning, design, and implementation of secure data communications networks.
Incident Response and Troubleshooting: - Participate in and respond to network & security incidents.
- Perform system and network analysis using well-defined toolsets for proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response (e.g., packet capture, application performance management, syslog, Netbrain, Aternity, Observe, Arkime).
- Provide technical support leadership on problem calls and major incident bridges.
- Interface with multiple teams from business areas, network engineering, and management as a team representative on major incident bridges.
Documentation and Best Practices: - Maintain documentation and contribute to enterprise learning platforms based on user reports and experience.
- Provide peer reviews of implementations, configurations, and documentation for team members.
- Assist other team members with deployment or best practices.
- Create technical deliverables including physical and logical network diagrams, network assessments, capacity planning, detailed design documents, runbooks, configurations, and change orders.
Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- At least 3 years of network security and network infrastructure support experience.
- At least 2 years of experience with packet capture tools like Wireshark and TCPdump.
- At least 2 years of experience configuring, supporting, and troubleshooting firewalls, site-to-site
- IPSec VPN connections, and Network Address Translation (NAT).
- At least 2 years of experience with AWS Cloud/ DevOps technology.
Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- 3 plus years of experience with Network Automation, including Python programming.
- 4 plus years of experience in network communications, troubleshooting network, security, and cloud-based solutions.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting router and switch hardware platforms, TCP/IP, SD-WAN, and industry-standard routing protocols.
- Advanced proficiency in troubleshooting Network Firewalls, Proxies, Wireless, Load Balancers, Data, and Voice circuits.
- Experience with packet capture and analysis tools like Riverbed, Sniffer, and Wireshark.
- Experience with network management tools such as Riverbed and Spectrum.
- Experience in large, geographically dispersed network environments.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and focus on customer service.
- Experience interfacing with technicians, off-site dispatches, and management on major incident bridges
Work Environment: - Ability to work nights and weekends in an off-hour shift role for maintenance window implementations and on an as-needed basis.
- Ability to work in a Command Center environment, log on to the team phone queue, and navigate an incident tracking system.
- Office attendance is required according to the corporate policy 2 to 3 days a week.
- Minimal travel as required to support troubleshooting and fixing network issues.
