Position SummaryUnder the direction of shop management and Engineering, the electrical engineer uses engineering principles and design software, to help design, develop, and maintain electrical control systems and/or components to required specifications, focusing on economy, safety, reliability, quality, and sustainability.
Job ResponsibilitiesElectrical Design (90% of duties)- Assist with electrical design projects utilizing sound engineering principles and industry standards.
- Create and modify electrical drawings and documentation using AutoCAD 2D and SolidWorks 3D.
- Support the development and maintenance of electrical one-line diagrams and engineering drawings.
- Assist in preparing bills of materials (BOMs) for electrical projects and equipment assemblies.
- Review project specifications and customer requirements under the guidance of senior engineering staff.
- Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and purchasing teams to support project execution.
- Assist with design calculations and documentation required for electrical projects.
- Support drawing revisions and engineering change processes.
- Help ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and customer specifications.
- Coordinate with vendors to obtain technical information, quotations, and lead times as required.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and control system drawings.
- Maintain accurate project files and engineering documentation.
- Assist with identifying opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency.
- Utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) to support daily engineering activities.
- Provide technical support and assistance to internal departments when needed.
- Follow company policies, quality standards, and safety procedures.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn, develop technical skills, and take on new responsibilities.
- Support engineering projects as assigned by management.
Electrical Testing (10% of duties)- Assist with electrical equipment testing and inspection activities under the supervision of senior engineers and technicians.
- Support commissioning and troubleshooting efforts as required.
- Review electrical schematics and drawings during testing activities.
- Maintain project testing documentation, reports, and records.
- Participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality and efficiency.
- Assist with field and shop testing activities as needed.
Required Experience and Qualifications:- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD 2D.
- Experience using SolidWorks 3D through coursework, internships, co-ops, or professional experience.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems, electrical schematics, and one-line diagrams.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications- Internship, co-op, or entry-level engineering experience.
- Exposure to industrial electrical systems, power distribution equipment, or control systems.
- Familiarity with switchgear, switchboards, or electrical control panels.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or willingness to pursue professional licensure.

Additional InformationJob: Full-Time, Non-Union
Travel: Up to 5%
Compensation: $75,000 - $80,000 annually (depending on experience)
Relocation: No Relocation
