Structures/Bridges Engineer

Department: Transportation

Reporting To: Ben Nelson

Compensation: $90,000 - $130,000 / year

Description

As a Bridge Engineer, you will support the engineering design of structures. You will provide top-of-the-industry engineering services that are verified through a rigorous QC process. You will create connections with team members. Your efforts will support in developing client relationships through utilizing cutting-edge technology, innovation, and designing infrastructure that will last.

What are the core responsibilities for the role?

Design or check retaining wall and other structural components in support of roadway or site civil projects
Prepare structure type selection studies
Work in cooperation with bridge staff to deliver PS&E contract documents on time and within the project budget for local agencies, federal agencies, and state DOTs
Perform bridge designs and load ratings using spreadsheets, finite element software and/or other bridge software
Design or check retaining wall and other structural components in support of roadway or site civil projects
Assist the local team to establish and maintain client relationships; ability to coordinate and communicate with clients to ensure project design objectives are met and achieve client satisfaction
Assist in building a strong regional presence for the firm in transportation related structural engineering

Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:

B.S. degree in Civil Engineering (Master's with a structures emphasis a plus)
Passed P.E. exam (Registered P.E. a plus)
3-7 years of experience
Knowledgeable in AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Microstation
Have a strong sense of self-initiative to meet client deadlines
Prioritize work to meet various project requests and deadlines, answering to various engineers and project managers
Experience working in bridge design team
Manage project data files from various sources
Be proactive and responsive in effectively communicating with colleagues and clients, both in-person and virtually/remotely
Ability to travel and perform fieldwork on occasion
Must be able to work independently with the ability to accomplish multiple tasks, with competing priorities
