About the RoleWe are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced
Overhead Line Engineer to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you will play a critical part in designing, analyzing, and delivering reliable overhead power line and pole/foundation projects. You will work closely with cross-functional project teams, multidisciplinary engineers, and field personnel to ensure high standards of safety, quality, and performance.
Key Responsibilities- Line Design & Analysis: Perform comprehensive transmission and distribution line design and analysis using industry-standard tools such as PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, SPIDAcalc, and related engineering software.
- Engineering Packages: Develop and thoroughly review engineering design packages for overhead line, pole, and foundation projects.
- Compliance & Calculations: Execute complex engineering calculations, ensuring all designs strictly comply with GO95, NESC, ASCE, and relevant utility standards.
- Field Support: Provide timely engineering support to construction and field personnel, resolve design-related challenges, and participate in site visits as necessary.
- Collaboration & Improvement: Collaborate with internal project teams and other engineering disciplines while contributing to the continuous improvement of company engineering standards, procedures, and design practices.
Requirements- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in electric utility transmission and/or distribution line design.
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated hands-on experience using PLS-CADD and/or PLS-Pole.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Sound understanding of GO95, NESC, and applicable electric utility design standards.
- Core Competencies: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to independently execute engineering design work and technical reviews.
Preferred Qualifications- Proficiency with SPIDAcalc and PLS-Caisson.
- Prior experience working within the California utility sector.
- Specialized expertise in structural pole and foundation design.
